any problems i had with linux where hardware once or stupid me deleting/modifing some config files =(((
windows: 5.1/4" floppy in my pIII 850 mhz laptop under xp =)))maybe i got still a screenshot =))) clean install of windows xp on my laptop... no icons in my explorer sidebar... something strange about taking drive f: as c: i reinstalled again -> same... pure windows xp and office installation cant last longer then a few month, once installed as admin from then only user rights to all... but screwed up anyway
btw Microsoft Word XP is started in save mode beats everything
because of this there is something called windows manager.. think about how annoying it would be if you double click on one windows and it maximises then same on the next and it minimizes:p

in windows there is a lot of standardisation in applications layout the save icon always looks same, undo is in the second menu from left and so on =) 'not power users' dont even know how the function they are looking for is called, they just know where it should be... if they have to search anything you annoy 'em and they will stop using your application
if they narrow your liberty with the home security fuck you don't make such a fuss
if they try to take away your guns........
we in Switzerland get full auto rifles in our army. nearly every male citizen has one at home!!! including bullets.... but they are almost never abused
i think we (and our criminals) have a different attitude toward guns
we don't use them so easily. there will be the point to change something.
btw. people with a gun will kill sooner than with a knife or something else!!!!
its just easier to pull a trigger.
a few month ago i tried to play a 1 or 2 year old directX game and it did not run at all =(((
i never had such problems with opengl games =)
maybe it's just subjective but i noticed d3d games are looking more unnatural. the textures often look glued together
but government gets it's money from the people.. therefore they should spend it to our benefit!!!
if they buy m$ just the employes and shareholder benefit!!! with open source everybody benefits!!! (at least everybody using software)
with this in mind there is nothig to decide if the open source software can do the same job at the same price as a closed source option

read the books they are great!!!
