the PC became the Business Computer. Since the late 90's, corporations have more or less raped the entire industry, wrecking the Internet at the same time with ads fucking everywhere. Both Linux and Microsoft are both now about how to improve corporate efficiency. Apple's existence 10 years ago was about having Gates on the podium promising a new version of Office on the Mac. It's about having the latest Microsoft Office, implant a blackberry to it's staff so that the CEO's can go about golfing. Computers are obsolete before they even leave the factory.
Seriously, did we go through 40 years of computing just so that grandpa could get an account on Facebook?
And people wonder why IT recruitment is at an all time low? (at least over at this end of the pond)
The glory days are over. Everything IT these days seem to be coming from a faceless corporation or made to accomodate the faceless corporations. The users have 10x the computers they had in the 90's, just to visit Facebook, Twitter and listen to something on Spotify.
But then, i grew up with the C=64, the Amiga and BeOS where some cool shit were being written. Computing has now been reduced to an applicance to keep in touch with people.
The glory days are over.
Everything we eat or drink is "poisoned". I worry more about Aluminum in deodorants, or sodium lauryl ether sulfate and triethanolamine/Diethanolamine in my shampoo etc.
These are additives found in many products today that may give you cancer.
How about movies like:
-Cocoon 1 and 2
- The Abyss
- K-Pax
- Contact
- etc
I know many who have at least the two first on their top 10 list of movies. I would love to see more movies like them to be honest.
The problem is that the solution to everything is more tax. Thats what happening over here anyways. Norway is going to try to save the world once again. The current suggestion is paying $12,- a gallon since that will force people to think about their driving.
The result is that the new tax goes to pay for everything else instead of earmarking the funds to what it originally was intended for and - The environment. Most "environmentalists" seems to want to buy themselves a good feeling as paying for a pollution quota suddenly makes it OK to pollute.
10 years from now, the politicians are going to wonder why the emissions stay the same as they are today while the money that have come in has been spent, and then suddenly a lot of other restrictions are going to be put in place with more tax of course and then we have everything going another round.
Look to Norway, we're experts in that field.
I find it very ironic that when people wake up that most are likely going to switch to the company where there really are no other options but run Mac OS X (Ask mom about Yellowdog). Lehnucs? huh?
Funny thing is that while Microsoft is now trying to make x86 their territory, Apple has shown recently that you are basically free to do whatever you want on your Macintosh as long as you have purchaced one.
It's a good Linux strategy for Microsoft though i am afraid.
Can't compete with free? Own the platform. Look what happened to BeOS on PPC. I am betting that Microsoft has learned from this. It will happen.
I guess i'll start saving some money and buy a lot of non-palladium parts soon. The opterons and the itanium are palladium certified aren't they?

So, that means Balmer is a member of the Animal caste, while Bill is a member of the religious caste. hmm. Where are the Shadows when you need them?
I wonder how much it pays as a professional TOS/EULA writer.
I think i'll pursue a career as a professional EULA/TOS writer. Anyone know how they pay? $bling
Why the rush in making Mars an inhabitable planet when we are doing just the opposite on Earth?
Shouldn't we at least try to fix THIS eco-system before we go screw another one?
Remember the good old days?
I remember owning a Cyrix 150+ system with 64MB RAM that was just about equal to a Pentium 100 in FPU power and a P166 in integer performance.
Whenever i tried launching a game that required a P-90 and 16MB, the game told me my machine was not powerful enough. (Damn you EA)
Is this level classification for gaming going to be the same thing?
Now you can proceed to flame Cyrix chips.
Here i thought that aliens were intelligent. But no, they had to be stupid bacteria! crap, no warpdrive for me then!
