I seriously doubt if anyone one slashdot can explain it any better than Rocard himself (and yes there is an english translation). Don't be afraid of any legalese, the report is as clear as crystal.
I suggest you read the article. No this is not just another RTFA comment. The article goes into this very subject. The clarity of the article supprising.
You might be supprised how many people (incl. parents) believe that because they pay 50$ per month to their ISP, they are legally allowed to download music.
I pay about 23 cents per kWh. So 5 cents per kWh is way cheapo for me. This also tells me that the story is a bucket load of snake oil (or the production is not possible for another 20 years), since if the story was remotely true, they would sell million of those panels per year over here.
Gas taxes? What gas taxes. Over here I pay about 6$ per gallon. In addition we have to pay road tax every 3 month, and the cars cost twice as much as in the US, due to taxes.
Same here, the power supply usually last forever. On of my current power supplies did have a failure though. The cooling fan stopped working, so it would get pretty hot. It kept working for 6 sixth month without a problem until I finally got around to replacing the fan.
The Microsoft/Matshusita link is tenuous, what computer hardware/software company has not worked with Microsoft at some point on a collaboritive project? Sony? IBM? DELL? Compaq/HP? Using the logic that was put forth earlier anyone Apple sues could be construed as being motivated from M$...
Let's turn that question around. What company has not worked with Matsushita at some point on a collaborative project?
Answer: none, because Matsushita is one BIG fish. 340.000 people work for Matsushita....
I like the way old cars work, if they work. Today I was working on a Chrysler from 1967. Ever seen the wiring under the dash in one of those old cars? Not so easy to fix, cost a small fortune if have it done by a so called pro.
About the automated devices. Never underestimate the amount of automated devices Chrysler was able to put into an Imperial from that era. Automatic headlights (controlled by a photocell), auto rotating headlight, cruise control, climate control, electric windows, electrically adjustable seats.
And how is a school district going to keep track of all of their attendance, discipline issues, etc, without a computer in the classroom? Districts are becoming more efficient and saving money by using programs to enter and track student information including grades and attendance. How would this happen without a classroom computer? And are you suggesting that every teacher should be forced to handwrite every assignment and test they give to the student? Where are they going to type it up without a classroom computer?
In my highschool (1986-1992) the teachers used computers for all this stuff. But at least they gort a clue about security. So the teachers had computers, in a seperate locked room, on a seperate network. Even the electricity didn't go on without a key. The only way you could tamper with that was to steal the server at night, take it home, tamper with it, and return it the same night.
Pure water contains H+ (H30+) and OH- ions, both 10^-7 mol/liter. The pH of water is short for "-log(concentration H+)". And since ions are responsible for conductivity, pure water does conduct electricity.

And when The Inquirer posted the article, was it the 1st of April *anywhere* in the world?
> And also, are they sure that the programmers working

Good programmers are cheap compared to computation time on one of those machines. The electric bill alone is nothing to sneeze at.

Actually the circumfence of the world is 40000km (almost per definition, see history of the definition of the meter).
3.25 billion -> 4.41 billion

If you suspect that the stuff is stolen, you're breaking the law.
Ignorance is bliss.
According to that list, I would rank number 44 :)
Hmm, unless they appeal ... seems like something SCO does.
Good question, I too haven't got the foggiest idea.

How about using a socket *with* 'ground' the next time?
This interview is from 6 month ago?
Under windows your programs are linked against the Qt3 non-commercial. Non-commercial is not the same as GPL.

I get the feeling you've never heared of Matsushita before. Matsushita is a company with about 340.000 employees.
Very true, Matsushita is so big, it probably cooperates with every other company in the world.

60 km/s / 300000 km/s = 0.02 % of light speed
time dilationthis speed is less than a tenth of a second per month.

Ofcourse, next time you could take another 2 seconds to check your submission for errors.
