Yep, no kidding. Let's see... one of the most long-awaited games for Linux is due to be released. A Linux version was announced a LONG time ago.
Now, pretend you're a 3D graphics card company, catering to the gaming market. Pretend also that you haven't had your head in the sand for the last 1.5 years with regards to Linux's booming popularity, especially among computer "gear heads" who tend to love games and hardware.
Now WHY ON EARTH would you not do EVERYTHING IN YOUR POWER to release 3D support for your premier card under Linux before this initial Q3 release? It boggles the mind.
I know, I know.... they said they're working on it. They've been saying that for a long time. If they had just allowed people to see the programming specs, they'd have a driver by now.
I like Nvidia. I really do - nice hardware, seems to be a good company. But... Dammit. They sure are trying hard to make me go buy a Voodoo.
Yes, openipo.com was the site I had read about... thanks! It would be nifty, if Red Hat *does* go public, if they used this mechanism. It'd fit with the whole Open Source / GPL thing pretty nicely, I think.
I seem to remember reading somewhere that someone left a large brokerage and set up an online system for IPOs - so that real people could get a chance to profit from them, rather than just the brokers and brothers-in-law. A chance for John Q. Public to get in before the price tripled. Anyone know what / where this was? I found ipo.com, but I'm not sure that's it.
I think that Red Hat stopped parroting/. just for this reason.:-) I always thought that composing their home page out of snippets from other pages was pretty um.... lame.
Uhhh unless it's using a DSP to correlate changes in the underlying image which requires FFTs and such, in which case, yeah, it'd take quite a special driver to move the cursor around. Unless the DSP is in the mouse. Which I doubt. I think it's a WinMouse.:-)
I didn't have the form when I posted earlier. This is what I got, it says to return it to customer_support@logitech.com, sending a fax would probably be a good way to go, too.
Here's what I got from Logitech:

There's a good explanation of how to set things up here. The new Gnome stuff (and I assume that this comes from GTK 1.2?) handles the wheel automagically. It's nice.
It's strange - some of the Logitech folks have been active on the Linux USB list, and they seem to be generally helpful for the mice and keyboards... but the video people are still stonewalling. I went ahead and bought a QuickCam VC USB because I *hate* the parallel port kludges, but it's not supported by Linux because Logitech won't share any information without an NDA (as I understand it.)
I have a form that they sent me to "request operating system support." If anyone's interested, mail me (de-spam my address) and I'll send you a copy. Not sure if it'd be binary-only support, or what, but it might be worth a shot.
Why? Because I can. I have made enough money from several successful startup companies, that for a while I don't have to work to support myself. I spend my energies and money creating the kind of world that I'd like to live in and that I'd like my (future) kids to live in. Keeping and improving on the civil rights we have in the United States, as we move more of our lives into cyberspace, is a particular goal of mine.
That one I didn't understand. "Until broadband is ubiquitous, MP3 can't fly." - therefore MP3 will be dead in 2 years? Seems to me that 2 years from now, MORE people will have bandwidth which would allow MP3 streaming, and this would strengthen MP3 as a format.
Slashdot has already been hacked. A fairly witty one, for the most part. (And hey, don't complain to me about saying "hacked" - that's a direct quote from our fearless leader Rob.)
I've actually heard a speech with him at some southern church, and I swear he was trying to sound like Jesse Jackson... it was the strangest thing I'd heard in a long time.
Probably because they spend all their time combing through 100-200 summissions per day, and tweaking Perl, and never actually get to read anything. Poor guys.:-)
If I recall, he hasn't been tried yet. I guess maybe at this point he's plea bargained, but for a long time, as far as our constitution goes, he was not a criminal, but in jail nonetheless.
Now, he may very well have stolen proprietary information, and yep, that's illegal, and that would make him a criminal. But until a suspect confesses and/or is convicted, let's not bandy the word "criminal" around too lightly.
Forgive me if my facts are wrong, I haven't followed this too closely.:-)

I can see where it might be faster, but not until I memorize the layout... is there any rhyme or reason to it?
Can we stop with the "just don't get it" thing? It makes me wince every time I see it... it's at once condescending and horribly ambiguous. :D
/rant off
Thpbtht. :-)

Amazon took those "Daddy's Cap" reviews down... did anybody save them? The Masonic conspiracy one ROCKED! :)

Thank you for choosing Logitech.
Um... it's ON the LDP! I do sort of wonder if they know it's there, or if some script kiddie put it there? :)
Check out flightgear. Site seems pretty slow today, but there are mirrors listed.

Found it in the archive, here

Since when is Linux a threat to Intel?

This has been posted before. It does look pretty nifty though.
Ya, ok, actual guilt or innocence doesn't hinge on conviction. But legally speaking, one is not a criminal until conviction.
My zwei Pfennig, or whatever.
