Think about it. It is a click percentage, or also known as the number of clicks on ads divided by the number of times the ad was shown. Ad block does not show the ads, so it does not screw up the %. What it does screw up is the total number of impressions...
Your right. If you did download the video you likely would not have been able to play it. It uses a non-standard codec and every player I have, including MS Media Player for Mac, could not play it...
No. They are not patching Win2K. My friend just had to clean out his home server because he has OE on it checking a general mail box and it got triggered through a piece of spam that got through. Time to upgrade (by which I mean migrate/switch). I use a mac.
It was an example but maybe not the best example since there are run time licensing issues involved with compiler that do not exist here with wav file since wav files don't embed their codecs in them. I think the point was made however.
I am NOT an MS apologist but they were saying that the wav files shipped with windows media player were created and/or edited at some point with a warezed copy of sound forge. Not that warezed compiled code was shipped with windows...
ie; (no pun intended) this is like them compiling windows with a warezed version of Borland's compiler, not like distributing Borland's compiler.
They are talking about the hashing algorithm MS uses on Windoze machines and networking. LM stands for LanManager which is what the networking component in windows has been called since as far back as I can remember. What I wish people would do is send up some examples to test out. Those without regular access to windows would benefit greatly. Also, I wish I could shed some more light on the letters only thing, but I am confused as to whether that is for the hashed passwd or the hash itself. I suspect it may be the passwd itself but I am not sure since it is not clear.
And on a related topic, these sended id schemes bolted onto SMTP or attached in one way or another are horrible for people, such as myself, who have one or more user@alumni.almamata.edu addresses. I have two and both sender id schemes require the domain holder to bless the sending mail server to be considered not spam. That means people who send email through their ISP mail server (because the ISP shuts down 25) would be SOL and have to resort to using REPLY TO: headers again. There are good reasons for spoofing of the sender. It's an email system, not an authentication mechanism.
Actually, this could be done with the world's postal systems as well... Although it would cost more. The problem is not with SMTP itself, but people reliance on it for authentication, which it was never designed for. What needs to happen is the widespread adoption and use of technology like SMIME. A technology that was designed to be used for authentication.
Although each transmitter is limited to a range of about a block, they're cheap enough that I could see them being spread out across a city to cover it with a signal.
Or as a micro station at outdoor festivals, concerts and sporting events to name a few. If you have ever been to Grass Roots, Jazz Fest, or a phish anything, you could see how this could be viral and allow for some interesting intermissions.
your social security number as your drivers license number (do any states do that anymore?)
Yup, MA does. (Although you have the option to change that, ssid is the default)
Perfect markets (the ones conservatives crow about incessantly) require perfect information. Think about that the next time you hear them blather on about wonders of the free market. Anyone who truly believes in the true capitalist ideals and still votes republi-can't needs their head examined.
But notice that they report that the worm as not in the wild. So... where is it? Did they get a prerelease?
At least the crackers won't be getting a vaporware award this year. How long have people been waiting for DNF??? Maybe 3dRealms can hire some of these coders and put them to marginally better use...
Oh yeah it does when you can get a guy to paint his breast, take a picture of it and send that along with a birthday card and $80 to you. Fraternities need to fuel their pledges up on cheap beer to come even close to this. The only one better I have heard of is the powerbook scam from a few months back.
It shows that there is a real place for Linux in the commercial/proprietary software market. Using this, as a foot in the door, the more open standards can be intorduced and promoted to gain larger foothold.
...that some/geeks have been involved in this one?
Nigerian scams are but one annoyance CAs encounter on the job. They also facilitate phone sex and, frequently, endure prank calls in which college students and others call their friends--or even themselves--just for fun.

Hehe. The feds mandate auto emissions based on air quality testing done in the state. They may have also moved off of that to mandate it across the board in the last few years but I have not kept up with it. Anyway, NY has had emmisions for a few years so it must have been a while. I am in MA now and the safety tests are the biggest pain in the ass. The smallest nick in the windsheild makes it fail. Be happy you have no safety tests. The cost to you is high for the testing but they rarely fail. The setup for safety testing is that it is cheap but they always find something wrong, no matter how small.

All depends on how much it was modded. The chipping you got was likely more along the lines of a tweak and not the full on overhaul some get. I just modded my bike a little (despite motorcycles being exempt from emissions inspections) as well and am happy with the performance boost. It is generally all you need.
To get the most extreme modifications you need to make modifications to the engines exhaust system like removing the fuel return hose that returns unburnt fuel back into the intake manifold. That robs pressure so by removing the tube the chip needs to modded to account for the differences from stock and modded. Obviously an extreme example but I wanted to warn people of the risks. The warranty is an obvious one but the emissions one brings on the wrath of the government and can be a bigger issue.
...But why .jobs? That makes no sense as job sites are just commerce sites.

This is slashdot. You would definitely be obnoxious if you argued a point with actual facts behind you...
I wish they had a mod type "Obscure". Because that would actually describe your finial post since nothing else seems to fit the bill...

I reread it and now it makes more sense.

No, some AC copied my post and reposted it under the top comment. And somehow, I get modded redundant. Look at the time stamps.
Although, it at least took almost a year...
And no, I don't go checking for these things. I have a good memory.
