No i'm just refuting the statement that they're not hacking anything. it's clear they've been through a fair amount of the RnD info from most of our defense contractors already. If there's any blame to be handed out it's that our defense contractors don't take security as seriously as they should.
Funny how boeing and other companies are coming out with stealth vehicles that don't look *exactly* the same as the F-22. Even the boeing plane that competed against the F-22 looked nothing like it and it was stealth. I'm not sure you know what you're talking about.
Look at their stealth bomber and their stealth fighter.. look familiar? You might think to yourself "hmm.. their stealth bomber looks nearly identical to ours.. and hey!! so does their stealth fighter!" And they just magic'd them out of nowhere. No decades of research.. no skunk-works or area 51 for testing.. just POOF.. a few years after we come up with them and BAM.. China has nearly identical copies. Just a coincidence i'm sure.
That was never the issue. The issue was that microsoft was using their windows monopoly to push IE so if you bought Windows you got IE no matter if you wanted it or not. Google isn't using a product monopoly to force you to use android.. Completely different. Nobody cared if MS used money to push their software.. they do that all the time and nobody says a word.
This has already been to court and evolution has been proven out. Creationism and ID are just religion in disguise and it can be proven. Call it what you will.. Null Hypothesis.. whatever.. it will have the same approach to life.. life just poofed into existance just because.. and it's already been proven to not be a science but religion.
"B&N seems instead to be arguing against patents."
That statement right there is what added the annoyed tone to my post. That statement tells me that the poster doesn't know what they're talking about at all. if they had read BnN's response or even skimmed it they'd know that BnN isn't arguing about the pros and cons of patents. When a company tells you that putting " LOADING " over the top of an application that's in the process of loading data, that you need to pay exorbident fees because that somehow was "inventive" it's a laugh. That falls into the category of completely obvious to anyone since the only other place you can put it is "not on top of" the application but outside of the application boundary on the screen... yeah.. we should just hand over android now. Clearly MS is going to lose the massive amounts of money that went into RnD on that puppy. And think of the years it took them to look at.. you know.. every other application that's ever used that going back to the 70's. Very inventive on MS's part.
And how about the patent they're trying to enforce that was previously proven by the patent office, to be gained by deliberate deceptive means. When MS and their attornies deliberately left out previous implementations of the exact same thing that were already deemed important and related. They got busted for that way before this ever happened yet here they are trying to now enforce something that's unenforceable and has been stated so by the Patent Office.
Again.. if that person, or you had skimmed the documents that have been submitted by both parties you'd see that the statements by the original poster are completely unrelated to what's really going on.
Mostly though.. my annoyance is at MS. They've been here many times before and have been slapped down for it in the US and in Europe repeatedly.. and here we go again. Microsoft's "OH NO! a product is better than ours and we can't compete in the market place.. lets do everything we can to screw it up!" mentality is unwelcome. IMO It goes to show that MS has had it's day and shouldn't be (and probably won't be in the long run) in the position they are.
Anyway, it's a good read.. i encourage everyone to take a look and what both sides have submitted. Don't believe me.. go see what the super inventive patents that MS has (for good reason) been hiding from the Linux community for years. It will become clear why MS doesn't want the patents revealed publicly.
you should probably read the claims from MS, and read about the ridiculous pattens that they've had to hide for years from the linux community, and then read the response by BnN before you post responses like this. It makes it clear you haven't ready any of those things and are just blowing hot air.
BnN has legitimate claims that Microsoft's pattens are BS and are not infringed upon in any way by the Nook. They also make a strong argument that MS's only goal is to shut down android at all costs by trying to charge licencing fees for their laughable pattens that are higher than the licence cost of windows 7. Check out Groklaw (http://www.groklaw.net/article.php?story=20110427052238659) and you can read about all of this. Microsofts only hope of winning is that BnN goes bankrupt. I would say that it's in google's interest to make sure that doesn't happen. Google can stop Microsofts push against android by invalidating any claims of "infringement" in one fail swoop. And if MS looses this, they should prepare themselves for a long ride in the back seat of the mobile computing future.
I doubt that you'll bother, but if you read on in the comments you'll notice how many people can give you exact software systems that used all of the features in each of these pattens well before 1992, which is prior art. Basically if BnN doesn't go bankrupt and can see this through.. not only will MS be stopped in their tracks and be forced to compete on the merits of their product (lol) but they're going to loose all of those pattens to prior art as well.
Personally, I hope BnN jams their foot up MS's back side.
Let's be honest.. they just couldn't do anything to fix that horrible brew, so they just decided to fancy up the can. All i can say is they understand their target audience well..
Budweiser: Idiots rejoice! We have what you've alwasy wanted.. a new can!
Idiot: Is the beer any better?
Budweiser: IT'S A *TOTALLY* NEW CAN! AND IT CHANGES COLORS TOO!!!
Idiot: I better get some before they run out of the precious metals they use to make a color changin can out of!!!!/runs off to the store/face in hands in disbelief that it worked..
Yeah I can't wait until they bring some reality to these games. We all know that the inner-city areas of the major metropolitan cities we've all come to know and love are not filled with black gang members wearing colors, driving low rider cars, or Latino's wearing their button down blue/white/plaid shirts buttoned only at the top with their kaki pants.. NO.. it's all lies created by Hollywood.. the bitches.
Why can't the reality of street gangs and inner-city skid row neighborhoods finally be brought to big media.. and show the insanity of the "white and nerdy" Weird Al stereo type that is much closer to reality than anything else. In fact, it's so close to reality that it shouldn't be called a stereo type.. it should be a.. reality type!!! We all have this dream.. to see reality.. of the sinister "white and nerdy" lawn mowing, slacks wearing bottle thick glasses wearing GANGSTAZ that dominate those ghettos. Someday.. someday..
Anyway, my Prozac is wearing off. I need to go take some more and probably go see my therapist. I got a little excited there and now I have issues with my parents because of it.. DAMN RACISM!!!
/curls up in a ball under his desk and weeps softly until his dreams are realized.
they didn't say "Downloaded" movies.. they said pirated movies.. and last i checked it was pretty common for open street stores that were filled with nothing but burned illegal copies were considered pirated copies, the language they're dubbed in is fairly irrelivant. so i'm not sure what your point is.
someday? wow.. you missed some stuff.. who do you think owns the world now? I'm pretty sure whoever they are don't have the average joe's interests in mind when they make their grand decisions to spy on us and crap on our rights.
If only all people wern't like you, everyone would know who runs the show.
But for now.. go back to sleep.. "everything is fine"..
stands under a giant 'Mission Accomplished' banner
everything is ooookkkkk little sleepy head, don't even think about it anymore.
Correct me if i'm wrong but all the online world companies have made it very clear that any item in the game, including your character and any thing they have posession of is clearly property of the company and that your monthly fee "ALLOWS" you to use these items. The monthly fee does not transfer ownership to you in any way. This has gone to court and upheld.
So if the game company owns my character and all his/her items/cash/assets, how the hell can i be taxed for them as income when i don't own them?
Guild wars: I played all the content for each expansion and had top end gear within 6 weeks of release (and I'm not a hardcore grinder). The only option for this game was to create a new character and go again. (though i liked the pvp but it got old after a while) - translation (BORING)
WoW: Been playing for almost a year and haven't had to build a new character so i could rinse and repeat yet.. LOL
OMG.. GW expansions every 6 months? Remember that hoop you jumped through? WELCOME BACK! Feel free to wet yourself with excitement now.
That last expansion was pointless. It didn't add anything to GW. Liked the game until that expansion, and won't be buying the next.
I usually never post but that post was so stupid I felt compelled to respond.
I think we should do studies on obvious cause and effect...
To complete our study, please put the gun provided for you, to your head now.. and pull the trigger.. just so we can see if you suffer any "negative" effects from it.
Disclaimer:
After reading your post, we have concerns that we may not see any noticeable effect.
You obviously have never used a chat application. ALL chat apps that I've ever seen broadcast your icon to anyone that has you on their list or talk to. It was also pointed out that the kid was spreading the icon around.
The plain and simple fact is that just because the first amendment exists.. DOESN"T GIVE YOU THE RIGHT TO THREATEN THE SAFTY OF OTHERS, joke or no joke. You can't joke about bombs on airplanes; you can't jokingly yell FIRE in a crowded theater, AND YOU CAN"T THREATEN SOMEONE"S LIFE. The first amendment does not accord you those rights and never has. The kids parents, the kid and a few of the people here need to go read the first amendment some time so they know what they're talking about.
Now if you want to argue over what constitutes a "true threat" that's fine but as the judge put it, there was no evidence of a joke which is the determining factor in deciding what speech is protected and what is not when it comes to threats. That means that it could have been interpreted as a real threat because there was nothing to show that it was anything otherwise. I remember kids at columbine being interviewed after the shootings, saying that they though it was a joke when those two kids were talking about shooting people. You just can't be sure anymore, especially when you have kids being raised by parents that think this kind of behavior is not only ok, but should be legally protected.
It's ridiculous that people's general education level has gotten so low in this country that there are people actually defending this asinine kid and his parents.
Sometimes realistic gets dumb. Eating food in EQ was realistic but it was a pain in the a** after a while and served no purposed to further the storyline or the fun factor of the game.
Sure in DDO you could deal with the bugs magically knowing when you were gonna cast and doing a 180 around the back of you so that you were staring at air over and over again, but after a while it gets stupid and made the game less engaging for me at least. I stopped paying attention anything around me and to focus on one mob at a time because you never knew when it was going to ninja left or right out of your attack range. You spend so much time focusing on turning your character so that your target is in attack range that you can hardly get spells off. To me that got quite frustrating after a short period of time. I never had to tell the DM that "I check to see if I'm still looking at my target while I'm casting, to make sure I can still see to attack it" while I was playing on paper. I think it's a bit ridiculous in DDO that the mobs act like crack induced A.D.D patients.
I think the "realistic" mob movement has been taken just a bit too far. However that wasn't the killer for me.. I had all sorts of problems getting the game to run smoothly.. lag, being stuck in place, changing keys causing exception errors next time you ran the game, widescreen video not showing proper aspect, etc..
I mean I don't' expect the game to be perfect, bugs are a part of software development.. I just didn't feel the game was worth 15$ a month on top of everything else.
I think the concept is cool to have the problem solving puzzles and specific class abilities like rogues disarming traps and all, so I hope that guildwars adds those features to their game. 15$ for a buggy visual battlenet is too much.
All of those instances are all based on a probable cause issues. They don't just get to do that stuff because they feel like it. There has to be a reason to do something like that. And I'd also like to note that the law allows these things to happen without a warrant IF a warrant is in process of being issued, which is retroactive. Funny how the republicans always forget the part after the IF. The point being that the warrant still needs to be obtained to cover the actions being taken.
This specifically is why bush's BS about "we don't have the time to wait for a warrant" is total crap. But I guess it's good for the bush administration that there's lots of people like you ready to open wide for another spoon full of s**t. You're like one of those dolls with the string in the back that talk when you pull it. You hear your BS lines from the republican party and you just pull your own string over and over and over.. Never truly thinking about the complete pile of s**t that you're spewing. Of course thought requires education.
Truly.. Without you.. None of this would be possible. Thanks..

The fighter is called the J-20 which is nearly identical to the F-22
They look familiar don't you think?

You can't buy that kind of publicity... Jobs is appeased.. for now.

Interesting documentary about how creationism/intelligent design already lost in court..
