if you go at http:\\www.opengroup.org on the left hand side of the page there is a little box that displays their sponsors. apple is not dipslayed as a sponsor !!! draw your own conclusions!!
every website that you visit you check the code first? and how does that work anyways? you use a web crawler to download the code from the website and then if the code is fine you can view it in your browser?
just wondering!
I agree to your points but i would like to say something. A faster CPU it would be good for multimedia usage (something that the average person would care about). For example ripping DVDs or CDs, or as you mentioned rendering. You can't tell the difference between your 600 MHz and 2 GHz PCs because of several reasons. One that comes to mind is the hard drive bottleneck The IDE drives today are just too slow for the current systems. I believe that in order to build a PC that takes full advantage of the processor power and memory bandwidth it would be expensive. but as you know The average joe hears 3.06 GHz and thinks that is faster than his current PC. He doesn't think about other limitations of the system as a whole. Which if you think about it, boils down to marketing.
I would think that india is already taken from Microsoft. Most of the students from India in my university are usually found to be using windows machines rather than solaris or linux or apple that are available in the labs. Also isn't it known that Microsoft already has a campus in India? The salaries there are so much less than the United States that many companies have people developing for them in India. I guess i fail to see how this move from microsoft changes anything.
I am wondering how hard is it for IBM or anybody else out there to write a small parsing utility to change the end of line character to the corrected one. As a computer science student I can say that this is not hard. Now on the other hand IBM probably has many xml files that would need to change but then again, we are talking about IBM. They have the power to do that.
Why do distros instead of fixing their bugs and make the distribution better, they rush to come out with a new version which will also have bugs. It seems to me that actually making the distro better by fixing errors you would get more users. but what do i know...
Since we are at it, we should include the goatse guy too :)
excuse me while i puke...
