    You will appreciate a foreign language far more if you actually learn it while living in the country where it's spoken, and you will retain it far longer than learning a language only from a book.

    Thing is, isn't that a bit difficult? Daunting? You go to Franch with bugger all knowledge of French, it's like diving into the middle of the Pacific with no raft or knowledge of swimming. How would you function? Assuming you don't have a French, English-speaking, friend.

    Have you ever tried to learn a language outside of college? Ya know, when you've left and are now working full time. Or, has anyone? I'm interested in the best way to learn one, now I'm in full-time work. Does it really benefit you to go evening classes? What's the best way to find them? As someone with social anxiety disorder, going to them seems very daunting to me.

    I might be stating the obvious here, but - however much they can make. If that figure is under zero, they lose. Tough shit.

    If government sees something as important enough, it SHOULD be able to interfere for the good of the people.

    Although I think your concern about the internet's being fscked up by big companies is healthy, you have to admit there are much stronger pressures on the internet for being able to send stuff. Half the purpose of many internet services is to send data; Youtube, discussion forums, social networking sites, online gaming, etc. You can't really have companies slowly taking that away within fundamentally changing the service; with radio, I'm guessing the noticable difference was much less.

    Actually, the best way to power a city in Simcity 2k is an array of 3x3 raised land blocks, covered with water. These can then have hydroelectric dams installed which, whilst they don't provide massive power each, are small enough that many of them provide plenty, and they never need replacing because of exploding. :-)

    That would make sense with a system of proportional representation, sure, and I'd agree all the way. Unfortunately, the UK system is one of constituencies, and even if the winning party in your constituency agrees with all your opinions (highly unlikely), you're still TOTALLY unrepresented if the party you voted for didn't win. So frankly voting with their conscience doesn't really matter in a system that is already horribly flawed.

    I'm no biologist but, casting my mind back to riveting documentaries on the BBC...

    Your body comes in contact with a new strain of a virus that it has no defense against. The virus moves in. The virus multiplies. Your body figures out how to fight it. Much of your feeling like crap is the process of your body fighting it.

    There's even a nifty little diagram about it on Wikipedia.

    The solution is to push banks into offering the same protection for a debit card as there is for a credit card. They only don't offer it because they can get away with it.
