I realize it sucks when your candidate loses an election. But just because you lose doesn't mean that the other side cheated. There is a reason a lot of this evidence doesn't go anywhere. It is pretty much all grasping at straws. Very little of it is hard evidence. Consider the sheer number of people who would have to be in the deception. Someone would eventually talk.
What we have here in Washington state is in essence a tie. And unfortunately in our electoral system isn't that accurate. 42 votes is well within the noise limit of the system. Given the limitation of the system, and in particular the voters, I don't think the system can ever be that accurate. At some point there has to be a cut off for doing recounts. We will never really know if "we got it right". Absent fraud at some point we need to have a winner and the legal challenges should end. I do think that we still have time for recounts, but I think the cutoff should be at least 15 days prior to inaguration.
I realize that this hasn't passed yet, but you got to ask yourself. Have I had enough of big government yet? As long as the majority of citizens keep saying "There ought to be a law". We will continue to have these problems. A law needs to be more a last resort and not a first.
A law against murder. Sounds great
A law against burglary. Good idea
A law against smoking pot. Now we are pushing it. If you are going after the DWI aspect of it, sure, otherwise... (Though on a personal morality basis I think it's wrong. I really don't believe I should impose my views in a personal arena like this. Because of course what is to prevent someone else doing the same to me when they are in the majority.)
A law against fast forwarding through commercials. Ok senator, the good people of your state think you need to look for a new line of work
I hope they keep a ban on sales taxes. It would make it very difficult for a small shop to do business if they are collecting taxes for every tax agency in the US. They article wasn't totally clear if they are talking about that or not, but sure hope so.
I have a few friends who use to work for Caldera. They were real Linux people. A few monthes before the law suits started, they all started bailing out. I suspect that the people left there in the Utah offices are mostly just there to feed the lawsuits. I really don't have a lot of sympathy for them. Of course the don't seem to be the ones getting laid off.
SCO is doomed with or without Darl. The sooner this ends the better. Think of all the resources this is wasting in companies like, IBM, Novell, DaimlerChrysler, Autozone, SGI, Redhat, etc. That could be much more profitably put towards new products, R&D, etc. How many new jobs might be created, instead of wasted on these legal struggles?
Guantanamo is not US territory, it is leased from Cuba. The current cuban gov't would dearly love to "end" the lease. But they can't win the war it would take.
My concern about a policy like this is that people will find out that you have it and then they would be more likely to sue you because the insurance company would have to pay.
This article says that one advantage is that you don't have to remove all the water from the ethanol for this process to work. The final stage of removing the last few percent of water does use quite a bit of energy. So I wonder how this difference would change the math on this. Also if the equipment using this device goes from 20% efficiency to 60%, that could mean if this technology became widespread (used by the tractors and trucks growing and hauling the grain) This would mean that growing and hauling the grain would be far more energy efficient. I wonder if this could make ethanol actually become a significant source of energy. I'm not saying this will all happen but it sure would be exciting if the math works out for this scenario.
The Utah Court system is SCO's ace in the hole. If the jury thinks that ruling in favor SCO would make Utah Valley the new Bellevue, then they might rule for SCO.
Do you have any proof of this? Or are you just showing your bigotry.
It is clever, but it also is a scorched earth strategy. I wouldn't want to establish a long term business relationship with a company that likes to play games like this. I suppose at this time though SCO has nothing to lose. I still think they are hoping for a big payout from IBM, and they are desperately attempting to do everything they can to increase the pressure on IBM to settle. I think at this point, there isn't much of a chance of IBM settling. It's a holy war now, IBM is defending their honor, and SCO... well they just don't have anything to lose.
The vast majority of people working for NSA and the CIA and other like agencies are not agents. I believe only a small percentage of the CIA are what we would consider "spies".
I guarantee you that the Ford motor company's IT department is bigger than either RedHat or SuSE. Why choose a distro when you can make your own system so easily? I mean, which is better: paying high priced consultants and smooth talking project managers to solve your emergency problems on their terms, or pressuring your own guys to do the same?
If its not in your core business you are just distracting yourself from the part of your business that pays the bills. I've seen companies who allow themselves to be distracted, and it usually hurts them. GM did something like this when they owned EDS, but it distracted them. So they divested.
It really will be enormously more cost effective for Ford to buy thier linux from someone else.

I think the people in other countries are paying for their broadband. They just pay for it indirectly through their taxes etc.

Even if all the technical difficulties get solved. I can't see this being built unless it can make money.
Nah they're just better whiners. :-)
It is just me or is slashdot politics sounding awful similar to Democratic Underground.
The shrill nature of the allegations and insinuations are just laughable against President Bush.
I't's really not 26 mil though. They will never be able to sell those shares for 13 mil. SCO stock would crash if they tried.
It does seem unfair. After all at least the roofers are doing something useful.
Or take points away from you when they disagree with the premise of the paper.
Or take points away when you arent' one of thier pet students,
etc.
Lawyers, in particular lawyers for a large organization, can get a away with stuff that would land more ordinary mortals in jail.
Canadian investment in SCO - 30 million
American investment in SCO - 20 million
Canadian Population ~ 30 million
American Population ~ 300 million
So on a per capita basis Canadians are 15 times more responsible for the SCO mess

All I know about Bush is I had a job when Clinton was president.
Is that you Al Gore?

Bulimia should work too, think of all the recyling posibilities. Prepare it once, serve it all day long.
Sounds like West Virginia, 4-lane highways between chicken coops, thanks to Sen. Byrd.

Don't kid yourself, there are more than a few judges willing to legislate from the bench.
