Get a nuke and the US will not only be nice to you, but actually give you money not to make any more and stop the sanctions shit.

There is always concern when a new president takes over. But as of 2018 on almost every front Japan / US relations are doing just fine. I actually can only find a few articles where there are issues, most of them are months old. So, Japan US relations are actually doing better under Trump.

What he was talking about was the fact that by treaty NATO members are required to spend a certain percentage of their GDP on defense. I believe that is 2%. Some member nations where not meeting that requirement. That is all that was about.
