I think that it would be a good idea if everyone who would like to show some support for PA regarding this issue shelled out some cash and donated or signed up for Club PA. Lawyers aren't usually cheap. Yeah, they use PayPal, but it's the lesser evil when compared to corporations bullying the little guy.
Is this similar to the Open Firmware found in Macs and Sun machines? Never did get a chance to play around with that so I'm not sure if there's a similarity.
If internet access was truly for studies only, you would see it limited to computer labs and research areas only.
One of the reasons that Universities provide internet access to dorm rooms is so that there are spaces in the computer labs available for those that don't have access to a computer otherwise or need to use the more powerful PCs that are usually in University labs. If you can use your own PC to research in your own room, you're not using the University's computing resources and are opening lab space for those who need it.
Before everyone starts wondering why Nintendo is trying to make this kind of move in the market (and I'm pretty sure I'm a bit late on that, but...) I'd like to point out that this is a third party that is producing this peripheral, not Nintendo.
"A company called am3, funded by Toshiba, Imagica, and Bandai..."
Probably won't even get a nod from the Big N.

But it could! Haven't you been reading your spam lately??;)
And just how are they aiming the new Zelda at children? Because of the cel shaded graphics? Have you played the new Zelda? It is honestly a very well made game. The graphics are fluid and the framerate is stable and from what I hear, it promises to be more challenging than most children would be able to take. Don't judge a book by it's cover and don't judge a game by it's graphics. Just because it doesn't look like the realistic, gritty Spaceworld tech demo doesn't mean that it is automatically geared towards children. And since when has Zelda been an adult oriented game? I've found all of them to be a lot of fun for all ages, even the E3 demo of Zelda GC.
No. This negates the need for a Game Boy Advance completely. It comes with an emulator disc and the hardware part is just a cartridge reader. So, it's a $44 attachment for the $150 console to play games that are around SNES quality (not NES, that was the Game Boy Color)
The main reason I don't switch completely is my sound card. Philips doesn't seem to see any need for Linux drivers and ALSA doesn't support it. Coming up second is Trillian. I like that better than any of the AIM/ICQ alternatives that I've seen for Linux...oh yeah, and games too.
What I was wondering was whether or not if I was to set up a backup server using this method, would there be a fairly easy way to sync Windows boxes to the server as well as the OSX boxes? I was not questioning whether or not they could coexist on the network. Maybe I should have clarified that.
I realize that MacOSX is a flavor of UNIX, but some companies have been known to break the compatibility of certain features in commercial OS's in order to force you to use their solution. Apple could easily do this in a future software version. Sure, I could use non-Apple backup tools, but for the users on the network the Apple software would probably be easiest.
Actually the word you are looking for is probably ethnicity. The textbook definition of "race" is such:
"A human group having some biological features that set it off from other human groups" - Sociology, Rodney Stark
An ethnic group is one that share historical or cultural bonds.
Okay, so that really just makes it an ethnic joke. Not really all that much better though. Most people can laugh at these things realizing that they are only jokes.
How long do you think it will take Apple to crush this little workaround?
On a side note, this would be an excellent backup solution for medium sized companies using Macs. Is there a way to get it to work on mixed Windows/Mac networks? A Windows backup client that would work with this?

So lets show some support and help them out.Paint does support PNGs. Take a look in the Open and Save dialogs.

Wow. I guess you and I are the only ones that thought of that when we read this.
Just my $0.02
