  1. Cyberware... on IBM Working on Brain-Rivaling Computer · · Score: 1

I can't wait til they get these computers small enough to fit inside the human skull.

If I am still alive when this happens, I'll happily sign up to be a guinea pig for testing. =P

Imagine having your brain, and a computer together. Never forget where you left the keys again! Amuse yourself for hours on end trying to figure out the 4 trillionth number of pi.

How the heck is this off topic?

Motorists already give cyclists a hell of a time, and I know I can pedal my mountain bike around faster than a Segway can go.

Do people seriously think these things will be safe, whether they are on the road or the sidewalk?

Yeesh, what's wrong with putting one foot in front of the other and walking?

  4. Death of the Internet... on Email (As We Know It) Doomed? · · Score: 1

Ya, this has been predicted by Nostradamus. ;)

Seriously, Usenet has been drowning in spam for years now, before spam email hit the radar. Depending on where you read, anywhere from 30 to 60% of the messages posted in newsgroups are either spam or cancelspam.

I use four emails currently. Two are spambait, the other two are work and home emails. If I get spam at either my work or home email addresses, I can fairly easily track down where it came from. The two spambait emails, one at hotmail, one at yahoo, I just go in and clear them out every so often.

I use a whitelist, but not the automated kind. It's easy to figure out which emails are spam, and which aren't... how likely are your friends to send you Viagra? =P

  5. Cable user agreements... on AT&T/Comcast Consider Aussie-Style Bandwidth Caps · · Score: 1

All of you who use a cable ISP should check out the agreement you signed.

Mine has a mention of a 5 gigabyte per month download limit. It's just a matter of when they choose to enforce it. And I signed this over two years ago...

  6. The "new" Captains... on Ask William Shatner · · Score: 5, Interesting

Mr. Shatner, I would ask you what you thought of the captains that followed in your footsteps: Captain Picard, Captain Sisko, Captain Janeway and Captain Archer, of The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Enterprise respectively. What sort of input did you have, if any, in the four series? Are you planning to do any more scifi TV shows? I enjoyed your Tekwar series. Which do you like portraying more, a good guy, a bad guy, or an anti-hero? Thanks for allowing us to pester you with questions you've probably answered many times over. =)

I dunno about you, but I've read the instructions that came with my cell phone. There's a part that says to hold the cell phone 2 to 3 centimeters from my ear while using the phone. Radio waves that close to your head aren't good I suppose... what's a little bit of radiation to go along with it? =P

  9. Heh, 900+ boxes...??? on Microsoft Legal Documents To Be Destroyed · · Score: 3, Interesting

That would take a bit of time to scan, since I didn't see mention of how big the boxes are. There could be hundreds of thousands of pages... I know I wouldn't want to do that amount of scanning, even for the overtime. =P And it definitely wouldn't be a small amount of space electronically either...

  10. Censorship... on Google Complies with Law, Excludes 'controversial' Sites · · Score: 4, Insightful

Google's a target, that's for sure, it's a drawback to being highly successful. But Google has to follow the laws of each nation it is based in. So of course Google.de and Google.fr had to remove the links. It *could* make a stand, and challenge the laws, but does it really want to put the time and effort and money into such a legal challenge? These laws have stood, what, almost 60 years? Take a look at ChillingEffects.com and see how many cease and desists Google has to wade through... for simply having a link to a controversial site.
