I didn't RTFA but I think they are talking about trades. How do you outsource the electrical and plumbing of a building project in your city to India? Local hands on work needs to be done locally. You are talking about goods being manufactured in a central facility for consumption in other geographic areas.
I don't have any regrets with my path and have had a long happy IT career but if I had to start over I would definitely get a couple of trades. So many opportunities to start your own company and thrive if you are good at it. Lots of hard work but the possibilities are endless. Look at the big expensive houses in your area and I bet there are quite a few "company" pickups with construction company advertising on them in the driveway. Of course you have to enjoy what you do, but how many kids today would have loved this kind of work, but didn't consider it because they were discouraged to?
I've been working in IT for many years and my experience has been that if a Sysadmin hates his users it says a lot more about him then it does the users.
YMMV
This is your chance to come to the rescue of a stranded little cutie! Leave your parents basement, let the sun hit your face, the cold fresh air will make you come alive!!! I didn't read through all 630 posts because I am too lazy for that, but am I the only one looking at the picture? vavavavoooooooooooom!!!
Maybe not ready for primetime but would be nice to see him as leader of the opposition in a minority government.
I just can't respect Dion for abstaining from so many votes in the last parliament, basically giving the Tories an effective Majority. Harper backed him in a corner many times, just daring him to bring down the government and trigger an election. What did he do? He stuck his head in the sand instead of doing the right thing and taking Harper on like a man. Shameful and not worthy of running our country.
Besides we have Charlie Angus running NDP in our riding. Got to vote for Charlie.
....oh fogot to add, I'm Canadian. We are the "bend over" society when it comes to cell phones. Actually buy a 60 day Bell card for $25. Allthough I am sure I could do better somewhere eles.
Been using Simplicato for 5 years. Registered my own domain and costs like $2/month. Grant you its only 25Mb storage but that combined with gmail for archiving works pretty good. You can increment your space for minimal monthly amounts. IMAP access and SquirrelMail for Web.
Wow, I didn't realize that latency was that bad on all these phones. Never see this shit in the ads. I'm a phone luddite anyway, my cell is an old sanyo from 2004 with the monochrome display.:-) Still works and costs me $12.50 per month pay as I go.
When everyone and their dog became dog owners I guess. Depends where you live, I'm out in the country and couldn't care less if the neighbours dog has a shit on our property. It really ticked me off in town though.
Isn't the strength of a botnet that it controls systems behind millions of different broadband connections? It's not the number of PC's that matter but being able to use the sum of all bandwidth available behind a gazillion connections. If the military spreads their botnet on 100,000 systems behind 1000 networks then that wouldn't be very effective.
Ya, but I draw the line at my family and friends. They are the ones that have my back with shit I don't know. I will most certainly have theirs when it comes to IT security. For the rest of the masses, I'm with you.
That is good. We have 40,000 desktops\laptops and other functional workstation in our organization and we are almost completed upgrading to XP from 2K. (I shit you not) Looks like our systems folks saw that we only had 26000 users so they only purchased that many XP licenses and Microsoft is giving us some heat on that. I can only imagine if they cut XP support and force our org to upgrade to Vista what a world of hurt that would cause. The sad part is that we are so locked in I don't see how we could even switch. We are starting to hear rumbling in the org about considering Linux but I think it's just some chest thumping to get a better Microsoft deal.
That is correct. Your house must be connected to a tube.

Would serve them right. Wanna see my shit, well look at this!
This line made me laugh. Sorry, I'm 12 and currently medicated.
Or in Canada, the Assault Sword Registry.
2009 will be the year of Windows on the desktop?
End program

May I suggest you don't start off your staff meetings comparing your staff to cows? ;-)

I was going to crack a joke too but after reading this I am laughing too hard to even bother. This can't be topped.
