    Marxist Hacker has the right idea.

    When I pitched needing a lab, I was pretty quickly shot down since it was costs they couldn't see the benefit from.

    Wait a month and pitch it again except this time from the aspect of downtime, redundant hardware diminishes this. Was an easy sell. And now, I have a second set of hardware I can test on.

    @danbond,

    Youve never actually installed an OS yourself, have you? One should _never_ just "install and go" with any operating system, you wind up with an OS that "works" but thats made to work with everything. Turning off specific services, disabling unneeded devices, etc, all account for a systems performance and stability. If you _dont_ tweak or dont optomize, thats the stupid action.

    Most DVD players these days will play SVCD's, which is MPEG2, and a _MUCH_ better quality. Any good VCD Group would rather release an SVCD.. (YAY CENTROPY!)

    point in case, my lack of capitals and most punctuation, i hope it gives you nightmares.
