The Bill of Rights and more importantly the constitution applies to any one on US soil with very few exceptions like right to vote or hold federal elected office/jobs. The problem with the AZ law is, in reality, there is no way to implement it without profiling some one. Also, if you are a hispanic american how do you prove that you are a citizen? do you carry your passport or birth certificate all the time?
Actually the federal law does not make it a felony not to carry documentation all the time. Its not possible to carry documentation all the time. Its not just one document you know. For people with greencards, maybe but not others. There are plenty of ways you can prove that you are here legally without carrying 2 to 3 different pieces(Passport, I-797 or I-20, I-94) of document that are required to prove that you are legal. Lose those documents you have to wait 2-3 monts and spend $$$s trying to get duplicates. You cannot get driver's license in any state without proving to DMV that you are here illegally. Also, are the local LEOs going to check with federal databases if the paperwork that someone gives them is authentic or not? I understand why this law was enacted but its impractical to work the way its supposed to. As a legal immigrant, I have spent years on F-1 and H-1B and more years just waiting on my greencard, I don't mind that I have to prove that I am here legally when needed but to ask me carry documentation all the time is at best debasing. Also, there are more people legally than illegally. What baffles me is why the businesses that employ illegals are dealt with stronger? Will get off my soap box now.
I use one or more of these on my public facing servers. 1. Move the default ssh port to a higher order port (5000+) 2. Use Denyhosts http://denyhosts.sourceforge.net/ to block repeated attempts 3. use key exchange instead of username/password 4. use network based IPS. Just moving the ssh port reduced the ssh brute force attack for me. Either stop being a noob or hire a sys admin.
I know it's a slow news day but why is this news? The fact that the company that created the software lost a major court case and the company filed for bankruptcy wasn't enough indication that things are not as peachy as the company claimed? #editorfail
according to the nexus one specs, the UMTS Band (2100/AWS/900) will not support ATT network 3G but does work on T-Mobiles 3G network. T-Mobile 3G and voice coverage is one of worst in US.
I don't know if they changed the policy about enabling international access but last time I went to India both my cell phone and Data Card has roaming enabled. I never called them to get international voice/data enabled. This did not happen with the same phone/sim card when my service was with cingular.
The problem with non-specific laws is that its open to interpretation. Also we can get rid of all specific laws and have one law: "do no evil". Your definition of evil may be different from mine.
Also, most states have laws against careless operation of vehicles already.
Limiting download/upload sucks but its not that big a problem. In fact, if implemented correctly it would save consumers money. The rest of the world does it. I don't see why mom and pop should pay $40+ for high speed internet just to check their emails and watch few videos occasionally. I do not have a problem with bandwidth caps as long as a) I can buy more bandwith or buy an unlimited plan b) Tiered internet lobbying does not succeed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiered_Internet
Also, verizon did not block accesses to all Alt.* but just that they don't have it on their usenet servers. You can still access the usenet groups through other usenet servers. Then again this is/. why bother to look at the facts. And, usenet is still a niche service?
And also what is preventing them from not reporting a breach? How easy is it to actually coverup a breach. They can always come back and say "Oops! we did not know someone had breached security measures.
I have had my identity stolen twice and both time it was a data breach with a merchant I was dealing with. I find it appalling that it is so easy to get a credit or signup for a loan. How about more responsibility on the bank merchant part? The there credit bureaus should be held responsible for this mess. They are making profit using our data and we end up paying to clean it up or monitor it.

Since major cities have more crime than before why don't create new cities.
But the problem with investigating international cyber crimes and capturing criminals on the Internet is not necessarily due to lack of cooperation among international law enforcement bodies."
As opposed to extraditing murderers, mafiaa members etc is easy with respect to "traditional" crimes? Why hire competent people who technology as tools and adapt your law enforcement agency when you change the world around you to adapt to your incompetence? And for those who says "Think of the children": No law can effectively parent your child for you. Do you damn duty.
I have been using ATT (Baton Rouge) and speeds are much lower than they advertise. surprise! surprise! ATT speeds suck when you on highways or cities where they have just edge service. Verizon on the other hand has better throughput rates but verizon is costlier than ATT($20 something) and they have an "Download Limit". VZ would disconnect you if are a heavy user. I am not sure about sprint but I have heard so many horror stories about their billing practices.
If you go with ATT you probably have to buy an antennae to boost your signal. You are better off having the cheapest plan for your Cable/DSL service in addition to you mobile broadband card.
Why is Mozilla obligated to wait and release an advisory because Opera couldn't get off their asses fast enough to respond to something. Also, opera users were already at risk and not just because of the advisory.
Offtopic: Did that opera guy ever swim from US to Norway? speak about obligations.
True but that would give consumers a choice. Office is probably the most profitable division for Microsoft. Once they loose control over the format that's one step closer to loosing they lock-in with their customers.
you should have known when you bought DRM tainted video. There is no perpetual access to the data you paid for.In the short term DRM might look harmless but its going to be a pain in the neck for people who actually pay for using it. Solution: Use your wallet to prove your point. Buy used cds and dvds if you must. Stay away from HDDVD and blueray disks/players. Buy mp3 audio from amazon.com and stop buying DRM stuff.
I have nothing against apple design but I never understood why people went ape crap over iphone. The cost of the phone was really high and added to that you still have to sign a contract with ATT and added cost to replace batteries. I know it "looks" cool and all but there were other devices(although not many in US) which could do all the things that could be done with an iphone.
I guess reality is setting in for those who are suing.

DRM only punishes people who actually pay money to buy.

I am starting another group:
"I am drunk While Driving and I Haven't Crashed Yet!"
It sucks that we have to make laws to compensate for commonsense.

it doesn't make GNU/Linux as *fast* Microsoft Vista.

1. Bloated System
2. Apt beats yum hands down
My Linux experience started with Fedora Core 1 but after couple of releases I had switched to debian.
Cooling: I don't want to use my laptop fry eggs after few hours of constant use.

I am pretty sure apple is going to try and get the update issue fixed but I am guessing apple may be pushing the touch ipod more than iphone.
