I had been using yahoo Mail since 1997. Yahoo had the best(well atleast to me) email service for years. Then they decided to go with flash based in-your-face ads. Then they came up with an desktop client look-alike which was bulky and pain in the neck. I am never going back to yahoo mail.
By sacrificing usability Yahoo! wanted to make a quick buck. Bad choice and unfortunately Yahoo! did not learn from hotmail. I am still amazed at how many people still use hotmail.
Because bands have forgotten why they are popular in the first place. I understand their feeling that they "own" the songs but come on its your fans. Hurt your fans you will hurt yourself.
Good Point. Also why can't we go after the hosting services which provide hardware for spammers? Having said that I wonder how much it cost to sue the spammer? Sometimes its cheaper to hit delete.
And this applies to everyone? My customers make more than I do and I would be stealing from them to make myself better than others? What a load of crap and someone thinks that insightful. Someone willing to steal will do so no matter how much money they make. There is no psycological phenomenon that generalizes "people" making less would steal from people making more.
Why stop at the media? Slap the tax on anything the can play music. Finally you will end up paying taxes on everything.Besides, why should I pay for somthing that I am never going to use?
This probably is not the only copy. Is it? There might be somebody else (perhaps the guy who stole the copy from the library) with a copy and Intel won't even bother with auctioning for it.
What is so immoral about what he is doing? He did not steal it from someone. Money is money. I fail to see how this could be immoral.
Try it. The change of address could only be issued by the sender. I am pretty sure the sender information would not be in the tracking number. I have tried this many times with my own packages which were being sent to my earlier address. Be it USPS, UPS or Fedex the sender should initiate the change.
The situation could be different if all the sender and receiver information is displayed. Some one could call up and pretend to be the sener. In any case USPS has that crappy delivery confirmation with the city and state the package was accepted/ delivered and not the tracking history like UPS or FEDEX
The asian mindset doesn't really understand the open source concept and would prefer reliable software with a strong manufacture behind it
I am sorry but that just bull. The reason why there is more microsoft products in asia is because they microsoft market them well. There are lots and lots of opensource projects that have started from asia just not popular in the US and Europe.
I think its a really good initiative. This is what Open Source and Linux really needs, letting people know what is available to them.
If i remember right yahoo used inktomi, google as their search engine. Until recently yahoo and google results were the same and if you look carefully at the bottom of the page you would see "powered by google". http://searchenginewatch.com/sereport/article.php/ 2165081
I have tried most of them(blockbuster, walmart, netflix) and everyone's the same. If you start using too much they start holding shipments. I think blockbuster was the best among the three. Also you get two in store rentals that a plus.
I was a crazy fan of the series(still am of the pre-movie episodes) and never missed an episode till I saw the movie. I don't know the reason why they had to make that move. It was more or less a 2 hour episode of the series. I probably would be crucified for saying this but I had lot of expectations for the first one. The sequal, I think, is not going to generate interest like the first one.

we are free to make mistakes and that is more important that having all the technology in the world. I would rather have Freedom of speech than a fancy parking monitor.
I did read the article and couldn't see aanywhere whether they would cancel the account if they were used for Gambling/Porn/High-Profit transaction. I am pretty sure the gambling/porn/illlegit-drug stores make probably 100 times that amount. $500 would probably be the "cost of doing business". the policy is just to please the regulators i guess.
Its all in the name. However crappy the software might be its name could have a push. If a non-techie was given a choice between mozilla and Netscape(which basically are the same) which one do you think they would choose? Sure mozilla has been heard in the news and articles, still Netscape was there for a loooooooooooong time.
having said that netscape is a bloatware. It used to be gold so to speak.
you can't use a GUI interface for ever thing(admin i mean). and switching between tasks is much easier with cli.for remote admin bash+screen+ssh is heaven. agreed. Point and click is easier but not always. I find cli is much easier when doing system administration(example samba, network issues).
Google Text Cache
I thought they started charging for pop3 access way back in 2002. I loved pop3 access since you can avoid all the junk ads on screen.

If these "mindless herds" did buy them some of these problems would never come out. Whatever happend to quality control and testing.

Interesting point. But atleast you don't pay a lot of money to someone else and do the job yourself.
