One thing is for sure, this whole fiasco made more good publicity to FOSS. More people know about linux and more importantly what open source is.

Honestly I don't how the US educational system is but blaming it for moving jobs oversees is ridiculous. Are they saying the Indian(which i can speak for) educational system is better? India has a poor educational system. And they are finding fault with US education system? Before the flames start let me tell you something I am Indian and have survived the Indian Educational system. We have really few "good teachers" and a lot of good-for-nothing ones. The text books are outdated and so are the teaching tools. The education system is more about memorizing stuff than understanding it. Most of the exams results are like gambling. Nothing but luck.

The good thing I see about RFID is that they could streamline processes which in turn could reduce costs for the company which would be (at least some of it) would be passed on to the customer.
The funny thing is all these people talk about privacy and stuff and I bet they wouldn't even encrypt their email.

Compared to the general population the number of people disabled is quite small. So why do we have ADA? Should improvements to acts be aimed at the people who are not disables. I am not trying to comparing Linux users to people who are disabled but minorities have civil rights too.

Most of the spammers forge email headers. would it be impossible to forge the email servers on your "soft whitelist"? Again we still would have probles with worms sending spoofed emails.

Most of the older universities did not charge you to get your education. sadly its not the situation now. The population has grown and how ever good you might be at computers you need money to survive. In a land where there are 1 billon(and counting) people finding jobs is difficult. The social structure is also different. Many of us do support our parents after graduation. so money would be in short supply. One other subtle reason would be a lot of people find jobs in microsoft related work. so not much knowledge about opensource and its benefits.
