Sony is putting heavy emphasis on its 1st, 2nd and 3rd party studios to make their games pre-load as much as possible and strem-load as least as possible.
knowing Sony's strict guidelines in the past, i'd be more than willing to asume that they'd prevent a game that requred to much juice from being released. after all, sony does have the final say in what games make it out for the PSP
um... 1 Lion battery actually, Sony is smart enough to make their power source rechargable and not force the end user to carry around a sack of batteries
i don't mean FMV sequences, of which a game like GT4 has maybe 2(intro and credits)
i mean serious, quantity of gaming goodness, GT4: Mobile will have 500+ cars and 100+ Tracks, those numbers would not be possible on a Cartridge, not yet anyways, even large SD cards are only about 512MB, GT4 uses in the GB of space
"It means that if you push it hard you'll get two hours, and if you hardly use it at all you'll get 10"
no, it means thatif the game company makes the game constantly stream load you'll get 2 and if the company makes the game grab whats needed then never touch the UMB then you'll get 10
as for 6 being the average... the math part of my brain is shutdown for the night =D
well Sony said depending on the game the battery life could be anywhere from 2-10 hours, that avefrages out to about 6 hours, i don't play games for that long unless i don't plan on moving anyways, in that situation they make a handy little device called a Power Adaptor, and i'm sure some smart company(hopefully Sony) will make a car-kit for it, hell, i'm sure you could find a car kit at Radio Shack for $15 if you looks =D
actually the PSX was out just prior to the N64s release and it pulled ahead to the point where i don't think the N64 ever did catch up, most of the information i've read says that Nintendo lost by a mile but i can't seem to find actual sales figures for the time anywhere and during that time i didn't really care who was leading (still don't really, i play games i like, not games that sell the most)
it makes sence though, PSX had Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy 7, Resedent Evil, and hoards of other killer apps at or near launch, N64 had... Mario, Mario, link, and Goldeneye. i loved both, but its the sad truth
so if a cop followed you around all day waiting for you to commit a crime you would say thats perfectly fine because they are trying to catch you breaking the law?
i would call that entrapment, its against the law and i would turn around and take that cop to court for it, the Black box is the exact same thing only the cops are using little recorders to catch you instead of paying a cop to follow you, that.
as a Hardcore gamer that has no affiliation to any company i'll be buying both PSP and DS and i can see right away that its gonna be even more heated than the PS2/GC/XBC console war, both systems have their ups and downs and both systems have huge target audiences that will probably go down fighting with their Portable of choice.
before the chaos ensues i want everyone to remember, in Console wars, the only real winners are the Gamers
Violence in games is great, it prevents me from getting out my aggressions on other people, instead i can enter a little game world where the inhabitants are life-less and face-less and i can slaughter to my hearts content, then when i'm done i can go outside and hug a stanger.
the problem isn't the violence, the problem is the fact that most parents don't take the time to properly explain to their child the difference between games, movies and reality
i've heard this argument from Graphics whores more than once, i'd probably say this is the biggest argument against the PS2, but in all reality, it just doesn't hold up.
it has been proven time and time again that Graphics != Gameplay. For example, Nethack is still one of the most beloved games of all time and is still widely played, its still just ASCII (the way the hardcore play it anyways).
frankly, if all they ever did was use the same engine and just add new maps, make them bigger than the last game, and add a few new features each game, i would still pay full price for it and play it for countless hundreds of hours.
that being said, there are rumors that this will be the last GTA game to use this engine, and it'll be the last PS2 GTA game, the next will be on PS3
in all seriousness, i'm hoping my Radeon 7000 (64MB) card will do the job, i can't afford an upgrade and all my other specs are more than enough for Doom 3(after the Athlon 3200, 512MB/Ram, and everything else my budget was gone)
i've done more with less so i'm pretty sure it will
let see if they actually release it over here if its not pirated this time, i'd rather pay full price for this than not show my monetary respect for the developer's excellent work
i may have to learn Japanese and import it if they don't release it here
Space has multiple trillions of stars with planets of their own, we have only seen maybe an 1/8 of a percent of them via telescope, you can't tell me there isn't anything worth sending people to. you can't compare space to an island, an island is small and exploration would take all of a few seconds, space is vast and exploration will go on probably forever(or until the Human race is wiped out).
somehow, someway, Sephiroth is needed in this game, it wouldn't be Final Fantasy 7 without the most feared and beloved villian in a Video game Franchise
Movies make their primary income from the box office, Marketing promotions are secondary(spiderman crap from McDicks, etc. )DVD and VHS sales are a very small piece of the income pie.
whereas for games, the sale of the actual game itself is 95% of the pie
Actually Microsoft is trying to standardize the PC as a gaming platform. Also Microsoft has a great number of affliated studios that produce games for both the X-Box and the PC platforms.
HAHAHAHAHA.... HA
Microsoft is trying to standardise Microsoft for the gaming industry, that is all, thats where they see the money coming in from, peopl buy windows because of games, people buy games because they're fun, if few games existed on Windows, more people would switch to a non-MS OS thats more stable
from my perspective it seems that PC Gaming is growing into a Niche group, whereas Console gaming is growing worldwide by leaps and bounds. as much as i love playing on my PC, many games are just far more enjoyable on a couch with a dozen people passing a controller around, or even in bed staring at a TV. at the same time, i can't feel comfortable playing an RTS, TBS, or 4x on anything but a PC.
i predict the Gaming industry will, and has, evolved more like the Movie industry than Literature. but Games will go that extra step because they give you something neither of the other mediums give you, interactivity, and the fact that your not just playing as the charactor, you are the charactor. sure, there are many games that are made purely for money and have no heart put into them, but movies are the same way
as for comparing it to Music, thats apples and oranges, both entertainment, but both meant for a different kind of entertainment
i actually bought BC3000AD and attempted to play it... the key word here is attempted, i even tried with all the most recent patches, it simply isn't playable and the manual seems to be talking about a different game half the time, the other half its talking about how cool something is.
if the guy that made BC3000AD is making Freespace 3, then may god help us all, prefereably by having somebody put a contract out on this Derek Smart

but the games would be significantly smaller, something like the Direct port of GT4 onto the PSP wouldn't be possible.

i mean comparatively, games with high requirements running on lower capability hardware.
and Morrowind Requires an 800, yet my old machine was a 450 and it ran it at 20-30FPS
i've done more with less so i'm pretty sure it will
i didn't say anything about the quality of the games they're currently pumping out, which are crappy...
no doubt they'll decide to start pumping out crappy games from their newly purchased studios
i have faith
i may have to learn Japanese and import it if they don't release it here

what about for the love of profit?
