GT4, NFSU, Burnout, GTA, and pretty much half of the launch lineup is getting my money.
and to quote IGN concerning GT4 Mobile: "Sony is, for all intents, planning on releasing an exact replica of the most advanced PS2 game ever developed on its portable system." - http://psp.ign.com/articles/513/513565p1.html
the PSP is definately no slouch in performance capability
i'm totally excited about this, Bethesda knows how to make a completely open-ended game with hundreds of things to do at any given location, and they know how to make a compleytely in-depth storyline
my only limit is that i refuse to play any games that aren't released yet... but theres a good reason for that, its more like the Vendor refuses to give the game to me before its released
my biggest beef with the Indusry has been that its getting too big-business oriented to the point where Electronic Arts, SCEA, Microsoft Games, Nintendo, Sega and Atari own everything and if you wanna make a big game you have to almost go through them.
the SIG will help the small guy get his products noticed, i have a feeling we'll start to see more and more small companies budding in the next year or 2 because of this
hopefully my company too:P (in all its "stacks of Whitepapers" glory:D )
"Why lose sight of the 'fun' and instead go for attracting a certain 'sex?"
unless the Sex your trying to attract isn't having any fun with the current selection of games (with the exception of the few Women gamers out there)
imagine a world where Hollywood concentrated on providing entertainment to just the Female audience and told guys to "have fun" watching Movies written for Women
maybe i'm one of the few and proud, but i actually know quite a few Female gamers, i find that they're usually the most competative, and the really good ones are hard to beat, my theory on this is that they figure they have to work twice as hard to make themself a name in a dominately male industry
actually, My Money would be on the upcoming "Ender's Game"
if done right it could very well generate a best selling Movie. although i still havn't figured out how they're gonna create a convincing Battle room
back on Topic, Timecop and Sudden Death where great for what they where meant for, Summer action movies with lots of explosions and special effects. but your right about the Director being a Bad choice for what should have less of an emphasis on action and more of an emphasis on story
On the day the rover sojourner landed in Mars it was colder in Edmonton than in the sojourner landing area (seriously).
i remember that day, i didn't want to leave the house, seriously
oh, standard issue Alberta Winter gear:
t-shirt
Sweater
Hoodie
Winter Jacket
underwear
Long Underwear
Jeans
Socks x2 (preferably Wool)
Toque
scarf
sunglasses (Snow-glare is a bitch)
add more Layers as Nessesary(sp?)
on a warm Winter day, on a cold one, don't go outside for more than 10 Minutes

"What else would be the point of spending $9346294673945639046723548409 dollars to send a manned mission to Mars instead of 345767 unmanned probes to all the other planets and moons, and also another bigass space telescope?"
because 1 Wo/Man could save you countless thousands of hours of programming Robots, it takes an hour to tell the rover to grab a handful of soil, it takes 1/4 second for a Human to do it.
I know that spacesuit design is expensive, but is anyone else worried about universities becoming little more than state funded corporate technology parks?
normally i would agree with you, but you seem to forget that the U of A isn't American, or Government Funded
i have a 3 Year Contract with Telus(Canadian, Alberta & BC) on my Cell Phone and the Contract clearly states that i can change my Plan up to 3 times within a 3 year Contract, as well, after a year and a Half i can upgrade my phone without having to sign a new contract
but games are a Form of Art, just like Paintings, Sculptures, and Movies
if Peter Jackson set out to do LOTR without first knowing the books inside and out, would it have done as well? if the Wachowski Brothers didn't have an interest in such a wide variety of different forms of Storytelling and Visual effect, do you really think the Matrix would have been as big?
now to Translate that over to the Current Generation of Games. if the Makers of Gran Turismo didn't know cars inside and out, would GT have been the Racing game of choice for both Hardcore and Mainstream Racing Gamers? or, if Square-enix didn't take the time to make sure their storylines not only touched the mind of the Gamer, but the Heart as well, would any FF games do well?
nowadays, Being a renaissance man/woman should not only be Recommended, it should damn near be Required of anyone that even considers having a part in Developing a Game, otherwise everything becomes Generic, Corvettes start handling like GT40s, all main Characters become the same, Game scripts become re-writes of Hollywood Movies, and the industry creates Heartless and uninspired games that re-hash the same thing over and over to the point where its even more common than it is now
as a Programmer thats trying to get into the Game Dev Industry, i make for Damn sure that i do as many different things as i can, Programming is my Specialty, but that doesn't mean i should render something in 3D Max from time to Time, it doesn't stop me from Playing the Guitar, and it damn well shouldn't stop me from going to the Bar and enjoying the night-life of my Hometown.
as far as Socially aware, more MMORPG Developers would do some good by actually being a part of their City's nightlife and finding out how people interact without a Keyboard in front of them. discover the importance of Hand Gestures and Body Contact, inspiration can strike in the most unusual of places, but 9/10- times, its the most Logical place to find that inspiration
if you want a Controller like that, you should email Microsoft with this Design of Trackball controller, it would give you all that flexability and control, plus the advantage of the Controller. the more people that email Microsoft (or sony with the accompanying Dualshock design) the better the chances that this design will see the light of day
i know where all the keys are, i type 90WPM, but during a hectic firefight its much easier to find a button on a Controller than it is to find one on a Keyboard.
i can't remember how many times i've lost a deathmatch because i hit "T" or "E" instead of "R" to reload, i've never had that problem on a Controller
if you really want to see an inovative Controller design, you should check out this Trackball Controller and help get it made by emailing Microsoft with the design
Maybe a Gamer that doesn't beleive the KB/Mouse setup is as Pefect as you'd like to think. a Controller has Analogue Controls instead of the on/off keys that Keyboards have, maybe you don't want to Run Everywhere, espessially when sneaking up on someone. the Controller also has the Advantage of having every button you need within quick reach instead of having to search the Keyboard everytime.
theres more reasons, but i'm too lazy to list anymore
all of the main three consoles are making a Profit right now, the PS2 had just started churning a Profit when the X-Box and GC where released
the thing about consoles is that the specs never change, but the price of the materials go down so eventually your only paying a percentage of your original manufacturing costs, add in several other key elements and making a profit becomes quite easy after a while
what does a 333MHZ chip go for nowadays anyway? probably less than the price of a new Game
IMO the N-Gage lost the second it was released, the only thing that might draw me to it is the Morrowind Game thats heading there, and even then i'm sure someone will write an Emulator and somehow copy the ROM images to PC
i don't even think yearly updates can save the doomed gaming Cell Phone
actually, i'd be more worried if Sony claimed to expect an Immediate Profit form the PSP, no Console Profits at Launch, most Consoles take between 6-8 Months before they even make a cent(note, i said most, i know some consoles managed to start profiting within 2-3 months of launch)
on a side note, i'm really hoping to see some quality titles that link with PS2 games, and i'm crossing my fingers on GT4 Mobile being able to transfer cars, Photos, Replays and more with the PS2 Version of GT4
if you can't laugh at yourself, you have no sence of humor

as for battery, the official quote is 2.5, 5, and 10, 2.5 for Movies, 5 for MP3s, 10 for games, which is comparable to the GBA and DS
IMO, the Fallout License is in good hands
my only limit is that i refuse to play any games that aren't released yet... but theres a good reason for that, its more like the Vendor refuses to give the game to me before its released

and what more could you possibly need?

DDR turns fat people into walking toothpicks too
ya, but you know, it still looks better than the 2.5 hours of Battery life for the DS
