Most advertising for mortgages is not done by mortgage banks/brokers rather they are list/lead agents and are not regulated in any way. Sites that let you 'shop' you loan or loan-finder sites are just selling your name to mortgage companies. The spam/spim you get is only from these companies, legit places will never spam you. (like you say for fear of loosing their license)

  4. Very Impressive on Microsoft Releases Toolbar Suite · · Score: 1

In the time since Google DS came out till now, MS has developed a toolbar and released a beta. Either they had this cooking for a while or they are very quick and sloppy coders. 4mg download indicates that there is a lot more under the hood of this toolbar (Google DS was ~200k) that i dont know and dont want to know about. Code should be small, quick, and efficient.

  7. Re:What about independant artists on RIAA Now Targeting Retailers · · Score: 1

For local bands and those unaffiliated with any major recording lable they can freely distribute their own music as they wish.

However when a major artist produces music they sign the rights to that song to the company (e.g. sony, bmg, etc..) While it should make sense that you can give away your own work, these contracts between the artist and the company are worded to protect the company not the artist, and are thus restricted in handing out there own music not purchased from the company.

Yes even the composing artist has to purchase 'their' music, in order to give them away. Occasionaly contracts will have 'free' copies that the artist can give to friend, family, promotional, etc..

No doubt the chinese are oppressed, however giving them more money (i.e. paying them more to collect scraps etc..) will not change their situation either they will get busted for making too much money on the side or the gov't will just eliminate them as an example. True they live in sub-human circumstances, but getting paid for it is better than all other options.

Obviously one post will not change a countrys rulership, but my opinion is that the citizens of that country have a responsiblity to encourage change. Yes the gov't of china is opressive but there is not leadership without followship (if thats a word). And it does happen that countries change like russia etc.. it just takes time. Bottom line we have to worry more about our country and all other counries will follow suit.

If you work in Hickville, IA and get $35,000 a year that is a good paying job. Get that much in Cali and you are very near poverty. It is all a matter of cost of living per region. C'mon guys this is basic economics.

  13. Capitalism At Its Best on AMD Announces A Shift In Focus From PC Processors · · Score: 4, Informative
Unfortunately I disagree with the original poster, AMD is not leaving the PC chip market, they are spreading their wings. More inline with the current chip industry.

May I remind you that Intel is not exclusively in the chip market either. Intel spread to new concepts in computing years ago and are better of for it (e.g. From their site: Consulting Services, Compilers, Performance Analyzers, Threading Tools, Training Center, LANDesk* Software etc...) While most of these are certainly related to the PC chip industry it is not nearly as narrow as AMD.

In doing what Intel did years ago, they are actually increasing their competitiveness. In fact a quick look at Intel's (INTC) financials confirm just that.

Hats off to AMD. for keeping capitalism and competitiveness alive.
