Agreed, as the company I work in is involved with writing the UPS shipping software, I know they have no plans whatsoever to port it to Linux, let alone making it open source.
Also, I worry about the security implications in using access and asp for their backend work. I know because I saw and worked on it.
Each component in Windows is so intertwined together that when one thing needs to be fixed, the a few other pieces breaks, which must be fixed, therefore more pieces break and it will get to a point when all pieces break and it is better off to run NT4, as Microsoft stopped breaking it.
If people at least patch their system, things like this should never happen, but Microsoft should have made that secure in the first place to prevent this from happening. Face it, if someone can create a worm somehow causing all host/computer connected to send out 300 odd bytes to any random port to any random ip every millisecond or so, the net itself will be full of noise.
Or you can just physically locate all the major routers/backbone of the net and somehow disable it, physically... yeah, you, get up and demonstrate how vurnerable the net is!
As usual, groups with relative power will alter and hide statistics if they really want to get their point of view across, especially when they are beseiged by FUD.
On a side note, there are 4 CD's I wanted to buy but didn't, because of them.
Imagine the moral implication of this experiment will create... I don't want to see any mouse man frolicing about on Earth.. All I have to say is
Eww! Not ANOTHER Stewart Little!!!
This time last year I remember I stayed up doing my assignment, but didn't get to see any showers because a) I was indoors, b) I was in the city, and c) it was cloudy.
Actually you should be able to see it in the city, and you might be able to see clouds glow from occational exploding meteors periodically from a dark location (like 150km away from city lights.. yes there were reports this happened), but not when all three factors are against you. Just hope this year wouldn't be as dissapointing as last year in terms of weather and hope it will be another great show!
Wow, a .NET advertisement under a .NET vulnerability article!
Couldn't we just apply electricity and make all the carbon's in our bodies glow?

I *REFUSE* to believe this until it was posted more than the amount of times that darned RFC was posted here!
3514 translated into l337 sp34k is ESIA... Doesn't ring a bell, but Egoistic Scriptkiddy Ignoring Annihilation seems to fit...
Oh I don't know what to hate anymore. They say enemy of an enemy is a friend, but this?!

Daddy, why does my laundry smell like beer? Oh, I am telling mommy!!
Maybe those ATM's are running Microsoft's SQL Server in the backend? Seriously, I've seen pics of ATM's that got the BSOD.

I sense negative karma destroying the devian-devel mailing list...
I think I read somewhere that bus drivers become impotent (!) because they sit too long... does that mean it could also happen to us?!
