Possibly, but how would that work? Usually you put out negative stories to bring the price down, so you can buy, then the stock goes up when profits are released and people forget the bad news. How would it work in the case of a private company like this?
I'm open to the idea that Uber is an evil company, but what's with all the Uber news lately? We've had story after story this week. It isn't normal, even for a company as bad as Oracle, to have news story after news story released like this. The whole thing looks like someone is leaking to the press at an opportune time, which raises the question,
cui bono? I don't know the answer to that, but it must be somebody.
Not very well, tbh. I get sunburned and theoretically could get cancer. The side of a house that is facing the sun will need repainting sooner. Sunlight destroys fabric, carpet, plastic, and a lot of other things. The sun is dangerous, and that's before you even arrive at it.
The biggest question I would pose here is that why did not all these companies take cloud based services not being available to allow continuation of business into account?
Especially considering this is not the first time AWS has gone down. It does this every year or so.
It's amazing how judgemental you can be when you phrase it kindly:)
Of course you are right, being a good person is better than talking nicely. Why not do both?
A problem, I think, is that too many people assume the presumption of innocence we must extend to an accused, involves a corollary presumption of guilt against the veracity of the accuser.
This problem can be met by being compassionate all around. Don't say false things, but when you speak the truth, be compassionate towards the people around it. With compassion, you can even say hard things to people and get away with it.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have some people to insult in the midst of a flame war.
For example, we can look at how much we understand about the brain. Once we understand it, then we can reproduce it in silicon (or, alternately, we'll have an explanation for why that's impossible). Better brain imaging tools would give us huge progress, but we're still pretty far from understanding much about that.
tbh, it looked like a negative review to me. A reviewer can't actually say too many negative things and get away with it, but the sarcasm was deep here. Basically:
Same tired plot.
Trite, ridiculous characters.
Boring tutorial.
Long, boring, open spaces.
Scenarios that don't make sense (hiding in a barrel, picking apples).
I like Zelda quite a bit, but watching this trailer made me want to go into the wild on a horse instead of sitting and playing a game.
Despite all the advances we've seen in the field of weak AI, it is the unfortunate and sad truth that strong AI has seen essentially zero advances in the last thirty years.
The problem with locking up insane individuals is that psychologists can't tell if someone is insane or not. They're really bad at that, surprisingly.
If you think Chicago is bad, in California we have politicians who are anti-gun because legal gun sales conflict with their illegal gun-running business.
And.......today I realized that Snowden is a character in Catch 22.
but if someone walks up and shoots you Chicago style
Yeah, that's why I always use MLA style.
That's true.

It's basically your chance to complain and say, "The wifi was a pain to set up." Or whatever.

Our locally-hosted AS/400 has not had an unscheduled outage in something like fifteen years, and that includes at least one full hardware migration
It's hard to find Admins who know how to have high availability in their own datacenter. AWS wins because of the lack of expertise in the world.
" we're a technology company, and innovation is our lifeblood"
That was true of HP a long time ago.
I focused on the phrasing here because that's what Tailhook (above) was asking about.
Yeah. Good points.

There's no reason to get upset.

There is no indication how close or how far we are away from strong AI.
This is just false.
I can't say for certain that you're not AI, but apart from trivialities, there's no indication that we've made progress on the strong AI front.
You're such a pleasant, nice, kind, gentle person.
My god I'm dealing with children here.
You're really not.
It depends on how you phrase it.

Scepticism is not an accusation.
Way to miss the point AC, way to miss the point.
