The engineers all gathered round to watch the launch on TV, thinking it was going to explode on the pad. When it lifted off they all breathed a sigh of relief, only to have it dashed during the explosion.
You clearly aren't particularly familiar with bullshit and conspiracy theories. The problem with them is they try to force the data to fit a world view that everything is under control (because the alternative, i.e. chaos, is scary) by connecting unrelated events with a common theme to fill in the gaps in the fabric of reality with malevolent intent.
You can get rid of a whole ton of conspiracy theorist merely by avoiding the ones who don't propose anything. They say, "How do you explain this? How do you explain that jet fuel burns at a cooler temperature than steel melts? How do you explain.......X......?" A lot of times they'll even state their point in the form of a question, "Do you see these points of light on the tower? Don't they look like controlled demolition to you?"
Ignore those kinds of people and you miss a bunch of bullshit.
That's because Coolidge didn't spread much of any information. He was called the pickle, and there's this story:
"A lovely young girl was seated next to Coolidge at a state dinner. She began acting rather flirtatious, batting her eyes, brushing up against his arm. She looked deeply in his eyes, with pouty lips, and said, "Mr Coolidge, my editor bet me that I couldn't get you to say more than two words tonight."
Coolidge pushed her hand off his arm, then without blinking said, "You lose."
Kids like to find a way to insult their parents. That's all.
Your niece has only been allowed to have a Facebook account for a year or less. She probably can't go to her friends' houses unescorted. Soon enough she, and her peers, will start using Facebook.
In the decent states (Rio Grande do Sul) some contracts say that the software being paid to be developed has to be open source so that the government can switch contractors
This should be done more often, all around the world.
FWIW the soviet union considered itself socialist, on the way to transitioning into communist. They never figured out how to make it into full communism, either.
The problem is when you create a work environment that makes it uncomfortable for people. If he keeps trying to have sex with her, or if HR punishes her for complaining, then that can be an uncomfortable place to work.
The reality is you can find a *good* company that also has great engineers.
How do you find that? I keep looking, but when I start asking questions about their software design, they get super defensive. "Your largest class has 10,000 lines? Wow, that's......"
The only other ways to avoid that are to either watch it grow forever,
That's exactly what you do, accrue more and more capital, which historically has become a serious problem as a few families own too much and push other people out.
That's a "widow's mite" situation........the rich pay more absolute cash, but it hurts their lifestyle less. For a poor person, $100 is a lot more meaningful.
SAP is the embodiment of the Buddhist idea that all desire is suffering. Like the indifferent universe, trying to get its software to adapt to your wishes only leads to pain
The environment created there is a perfect place to recognize and overcome suffering? Such a true point AC, such a true point.
I know I'll get modded down for being honest here, but I don't care.
Nah, if you get modded down it'll be for the rant in the second half of your post.
The first half of your post was good and informative, and if you added a link to support the info, it would have been a good solid post.
Also, your sig is inflammatory, which (shouldn't but) can cause people to moderate differently.

Wow.
I'd have to say that we ended up with a much better guy in McMaster than in Flynn.

The last President who wasn't an utter inveterate lying sack of shit was probably George H. W. Bush,
Note that H W had the most famous, "Read My Lips" lie.

Yeah, adblock is turned on for me until that gets fixed.

Prime is $99 a year. Why not offer the old $49 a year shipping only option again?
IF you really want to know, it's because at its original price, Prime wasn't cost effective.
I started my prime account in the beginning 1998.
Prime wasn't around until ~2005, you must have been thinking of something different.
I've never found a free movie I wanted to watch on Amazon Prime. YMMV.

At a price of roughly zero?
How do they deal with the fact that so much software these days is on the 'cloud?'
An obscure, second-rate digital coin can be worth that much money? There is a bubble in the cryptocoin market. I wonder what happened to Dogecoin.
Besides, I already pointed out in my original comment how a consumption tax can be just as progressive as an income tax.
Your argument wasn't very convincing. Your plan is essentially to give them an unlimited 401k tax shelter.
That's some good analysis and information gathering.

Have you ever heard of anyone collecting on the insurance from USPS?
Yeah, including some in this very story, along with detailed advice on how to get them to pay.
lol his phone is so hackable, random bots surf into it on the internet? Seems plausible.
Probably not. If that sort of thing made customers nervous, Oracle would have gone out of business decades ago.
