I'm almost scared that they may just use this as a way to collect information about up-and-coming projects.
Couldn't you simply run it on CryptFS? Maybe it wouldn't stop them from stealing any ideas but it would slow them down. Besides, it would be an interesting test of security on a virtual machine.
Ford dosen't expect to deliver it's cars using Ford trucks.
Ford makes a line of heavy trucks...I've rarely seen a car carrier loaded with all Fords that wasn't being pulled by a Ford (most likely independent carriers drive whatever they want though).
IE: I need to install rpm of package foo. Get package foo, try to install. unmet dependancies, get dependancies, install them, get more unmet dependancies. bitch on irc. Someone suggested using rpmfind. get rpmfind rpm, install, get unmet dependancies.... continue until hands were thrown up in the air and I gave up.
With all the other things that need addressing in Congress, *why* are the Republican "leaders" so concerned about interfering with the right of a local municipality (in this case Arlington County VA) to decide what the name of a train station should be?
What if (on the Win32 platform) I don't want AIM (or if I already have it installed)?
OT: Can anyone point me to a URL to get java working on Konqueror? I've tried several JREs, none seem to work (or I'm screwing up a setting somewhere).
I use RH & I know pretty much what's going on with my system (hint: I do expert installs, turn off unnecessary services, update packages as needed, etc.). ANY admin with half a clue will do the same regardless of OS or distribution.
I only count 2 CDs as being absoutely necessary (plus maybe the source RPM CD). Doesn't just about *every* other distro (except possibly Slackware, and the smaller/niche distros) ship with more than 1 CD?
I'm not a kernel hacker, but doesn't it seem likely that Linus, Alan Cox et. al. will run a diff between the "official" source code & the NSA code to see if there's any type of backdoor?
Does the FCC have jurisdiction over satellite radio? For example, would I be able to listen to a sexually explicit program during normal daytime hours (there is a sort of precedent, the Playboy Channel broadcasts 24/7 now).
Why does Red Hat ship with so many services running as a default? This is the main (but not the only) reason that Red Hat is considered insecure, since so many new users are not even aware that these services are running. Also, are there any plans to create a hardened version of Red Hat (similar to OpenBSD)?
Maybe I'm stupid and Canadian, but in an urban population with a decent sized police force, there should be no good reason for people to have to carry around weapons
Police in areas have an extremely slow response time (30 minutes is typical). Hopefully (if you're still alive) you've regained consciousness by then...
And given the fact that the LAPD has been found guilty of planting evidence and framing people (to say nothing of the widespread incidents of police brutality across the US) it's no wonder that the police aren't trusted.
Guns don't kill people, gun culture kills people.
OK, someone from.ch correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it mandated there that every able-bodied citizen over the age of 18 have a gun (and be trained in the use thereof)? If that's the case, *why* isn't Switzerland mentioned as having a "gun culture"?
It's kind of like
caller ID and all the other useless services.
I wouldn't call all of those services useless...there's an interesting one by Verizon called Call Intercept If the person's number is unavailable or anonymous on Caller ID, they are sent to a message asking them to identify themselves. If they don't, then they don't get through. Great for those "please stay on the line for an important message..." phone calls that telemarketers & bill collectors love:).
Speaking of the Skins...did you know that due to some fscked-up corporate policy at CBS/Infinity Radio, you can't get a webcast of their home games (or *any* of the local radio shows, for that matter)? Hell, I'd pay $5-10/month just to hear the local radio shows over the Internet (as the junior person here, I get little say over what's playing on the radio).
Of course, when (not if) the NFL gets around to discussing implementation of similar ideas, you better believe Danny-boy (owner of the Skins) is going to be all for it (this is the same guy that charged $10 daily to watch the team practice during the PRE-SEASON, and another $10 to park in a lot).
Hmm...the difference between them & RH seems to be that they're not releasing their distro with a download option. Bad move if you ask me, this will only turn people away from libranet.
Hey, there where a few other studios around at that time (Ruby-Spears & Filmation come to mind) - they (more than H-B) contributed to the decline of quality in cartoons (by making them half-hour commercials for toy products).
AFAIK, Delaware doesn't have a state sales tax. What's stopping online businesses from relocating to Delaware (and having Delaware's state government refuse to collect taxes for other states)?
There's alsoa Midori that's a porn star (she happens to be Jodi Watley's sister). Do a search for "Midori porn" and remember to turn JavaScript off when checking the links:).

Doesn't Conectiva have rpm-based apt?
rpm foo.rpm -Uvh --nodeps :)

So what about those that compile source rpms on Red Hat?
And porn :).

Gonna do a fresh install tomorrow, wish me luck :).

You have heard of the custom install feature (where you go through the packages & pick only the ones you want to install) right?
In the UK, if you have a TV card in your PC, does it count as a television?
