I closed my account about 3 years ago and never heard another word from them beyond the 30 days later "we're really going to delete your account if you don't come back!" email.

If people are leaving their accounts dormant, what do they expect? Either get off it or don't, stop pussyfooting around!

No they can do what they like! :) I don't own an iPhone for various reasons, one of which being the fingerprint reader is on the front.

To each their own though. That's the best bit about a diverse choice of phones, there's something for everyone. Nexus 5x here and I couldn't be happier with it.

I don't have to press anything on the front of the device to wake it up, I just put my finger on the fingerprint reader and it unlocks and wakes up.

Bizarre as this may seem, the manufacturer of the case I use saw fit to include a cutout for the fingerprint reader.

So you type on your phone with it laying flat on the desk?

Again this is something that just feels unnatural to me, nearly always hold my phone while typing with one hand.

I tried it out on my girlfriends phone, didn't like it.

Maybe it's because I have always had the scanner on the back and I'm just not used to it. It feels really unnatural.

I can't get on with fingerprint scanners on the front. The back is where my finger naturally lands as I put my hand in my pocket to get my phone out.

The front feels clunky and means I have to use two hands to unlock my phone.

Not in the UK. I've run on cheap pay as you go packages for as long as I can remember and buy my phone whenever I decide it's time for a new phone. Phone is 2 years old and showing no signs of giving up yet.

Currently paying £10 a month for 500 minutes, unlimited SMS and 2GB of data. No contract so I can just walk away to another service provider whenever I feel like it, or adjust my package up or down to suit my requirements that month.

I remember finding a silicone cover for my sister's phone - priced at over a 1000 dollars. The phone was about 170$ at the time

I believe they jack the price when they run out of stock so they can keep the same listing active and not pay extra fees.

The other elephant is that a lot of very expensive hardware still runs on WinXP (and other less-recent but still old versions), can't be upgraded to the new version, and is too expensive to replace.

Microsoft will still support WinXP, but basically it means a) they have the patches to prevent malware, but b) they'll only give it to you if you pay them.

Oh, and the price for WinXP support doubles yearly (someone else said that - don't know if it's true).

So effectively Microsoft is saying that you have to throw out and repurchase all of your medical equipment, all of your research equipment, and all of your manufacturing equipment - even if it's still working - because they want you to purchase a new version of their OS.

Or the manufacturers of the expensive hardware could update their software to work on a more modern up to date operating system, be that Windows 10, Linux or whatever.

But yeah, let's just blame Microsoft. It's the easy target.
