I pretty much agree with many of the other posters, the themes were dull, too dark or just plain ugly.
My problem is I want something that looks good that is easy to read. I need high contrast but not black on white because it gets too bright. The font has to be clean, sans serif or I can't read it. Bceause I also need the font size to be larger I want the frame around windows to be smaller so that I still can fit more than one window on my monitor.
I also want it to be pretty because pretty things are pleasing to the eye.

Needless to say I haven't really found a theme I like regardsless of os. I tend to choose something simple and then costumize colors and fonts as much as I can.

I realize this is off-topic, but I hate when people just toss out statements.

Sept. 11 may make the frightening reality of a terrorist attack more obvious
but it doesn't make a smallpox attack more likely. The motivation
for terrorism was there before Sept. 11 and I am sure it's still there.

It would seem the mind behind the Sept. 11 attack did not fear retribution, did not
consider human lives in themselves of value, had no problem with self
sacrifices. Perhaps we should count ourselves lucky that the attack was not
    smallpox virus strategically distributed.

If anything I believe Sept. 11 makes a smallpox attack less likely. It shows the
terrorist's weapon of choice and it's not biological.

I am sitting here thinking this more be a humorous response to the recently linked to article in WWN on how to avoid geeks. But perhaps it's not, and the conclusion is the same: if you think you already know what a nerdy/ugly/fat/geeky person is like and you avoid them as a rule of thumb then you're a victim of your own prejudice.

The more defined your dream woman is, the harder she is going to be to find and as your search for her you might realize that most people doesn't feel very good about being evaluated and judged. When she figures out you chose her for her looks/cooking skills/doormat like personality she'll reevaluate your relationship and probably leave you. Why should she love all of you if the only thing you love is all of you?

I am not saying that you should settle for second best. If a person's not right for you don't get married. If you want a pleaser go find a pleaser, if you want a pretty face then there's plenty out there. I am saying if you're shallow you relationship will be too.

Most people see relationships as a two-way thing, i e: don't ask what your partner can do for you, but what you can do for each other.

One last thing: why should a woman be less picky? What is it about you she'll like? What is in it for her when she runs your bath, and rubs your shoulders?

Personally I hate doing dishes; I hate waiting on people. I will not cook anyone's meal. I am not Florence Nightingale, as much as I admire her I don't see myself as an unselfish giver. I want to make money. I like my job. I like to work hard. After a day's work we'd have to take care of each other as bast as we can, and if our home looks like a rat hole because none of us have the strength to clean it up then so be it. I am sure as hell not going to do it on my own, and I wouldn't expect you to do it either.

What is this obsession with losers? Does it rub off?

What is a loser? Does strange equal looser, or does it apply to all unwanted courtiers?

Is it a person who will not accomplish anything in life, and who will not be remembered after they die? That's funny because that's the majority of us.

Or is Dr. Rachel Carmotta talking about people who dedicate their lives to unpopular sciences? Or guys that like to read books, and make up their own minds rather then just accept the latest politically correct truth?

Perhaps Dr. Carmotta is talking about those who are awkward and makes us feel uncomfortable because they stand out, and not in a cool way. Persons who don't fit in, who don't fall within our society's accepted norm. The kind of persons who don't feel pressed to go to the gym every day and who don't really care about fashion. The Weird Persons who don't agree with us.

Who can love a strange man?

Of course Dr. Carmotta's not talking about love. She is talking about trophies; how to acquire the best Man Trophy. Who cares about love, this is about looks. The woman with the prettiest man wins.

It's interesting to imagine a similar book written for men. It would not be on how to avoid losers; women are seldom called losers. They are called ugly, fat and/or bitchy, and the book would be on how to attract beautiful and sexy women. That book would be met by an outrage. It would instantly be recognized as superficial and sexist.
Now, I guess such books already exist, because we accept that our status is dependent on our partner's looks.

    Whatever makes you happy.

You are missing the point. It's not about getting everyone connected at any price. It's not about which software to use to get connected. It's not about having a world full of sysadmins.
It's about everyone having access to the same information, the same chance to learn.

The white guy who can't jump can find the Internet site and read all about it. The poor black guy without Internet access can't use dictionary.com.

The guy who lives in the poor neighborhood will probably go to a poor school and only have access to the poor library - and since he's poor he can't even make up for it by finding whatever he needs on the internet.

Ever heard that the sky's the limit? That the one who tries hard enough can reach any goal he sets out for himself? Well, that's not true because if you don't ever have the chance to learn you'll never figure out where the sky is.

Just because there always will be a need for cleaners doesn't mean the cleaner doesn't need to know who to vote for. An immigrant can find all the information he'll ever need about the INS and immigration procedures on the Internet. Anyone can research retirement plans online - anyone with access.

Don't say, "who cares". If a person has the means but chooses to stay disconnected that has to be that person's choice. But if a person is blind, dyslexic or too poor then we need to help them so they have the chance to live their lives on equal terms with the rest of us.
