  1. Re:Wither on the vine on Windows Phones Getting Buried At Carriers' Stores · · Score: 1

I remember MS did with OS/2, threatening that store-owners will get NO MS goodness unless they had all of the choicest shelf-space? This is hilarious to me - seeing MS on the other side of the marketing wall. The fact that they didn't pay for prominent, exclusive displays says (to me) that Verizon thought that any amount MS thought they could afford was not enough, and would hurt sales badly enough to affect the bottom line.

    Hilarious!

True. The NRA is a gigantic, truly grassroots lobbying organization that exists to serve the interests of it's members (mainly to protect the 2nd amendment). It works, too.

An NRA-like lobbying organization to counter 'IP' abuses (soft / process patents, infinitely extended copyrights, media company abuses of the legal system, etc, etc) just might work!

Of course, the media companies will try to get such a group classified as a terrorist organization, but still...

Bullshit. You want the money for the SAME THINGS to go to corporations instead - you know, organizations that serve their customers with the lowest possible benefit for the highest possible price. You know - because the difference is profit, and that is what business maximizes. And don't give me the old 'competition' saw - competition is temporary in any such system (unless regulated, which is anathema to the libertarian dogma). Competition is all about colluding with or eliminating your competitor so that you can charge even more and serve even less.

You aren't about liberty, you are about changing to far more oppressive masters.
