If you live in a state that actually taxes food and clothing, you need to fix it in the state. Stop trying to "eat the rich" at the federal level. Oh, and rent is not taxed anywhere.

Are they paying their fair share? Who knows

I've seen articles in just the last week showing that the wealthy still pay a much bigger share. Why? Because geniuses already imposed "special" taxes on things that the wealthy buy, like luxury taxes. How much is "enough"? How is paying a higher percentage than another person "fair"? Would you accept it if you worked in sales, sold twice what your coworker did, and your boss only gave you 5% commission while your coworker got 10% because it would be more "fair"?

The closest is when Clinton begrudgingly signed the GOP-congress's spending bill after he already raised taxes under the Democrat Congress a year before.

Ok... so thanks to the payroll tax cut, contributions are insufficient to cover outlays this year and SS is having to dip into its fund. So SS is cashing in some of its treasuries. Where does the money come from? The Treasury. Well, we know that revenue is far below expenditures this year... that's the definition of a deficit. So the US has to borrow the money to pay SS. So to pay SS recipients, we have to ISSUE MORE TREASURIES.

The problem is so obvious, I don't know why everyone doesn't understand it. It's really like filling your piggy bank with IOUs and claiming you're saving for the future.

Any atheist could become a killer for their beliefs... or unbeliefs, as it were. That's human nature. The Christian bible doesn't specifically condone killing; as we all know, one of the ten commandments says not to kill and Jesus' teachings are easily interpreted as pacifist (e.g. Quakers and Amish). Wars occur in the OT, but that is quite a different matter than terrorism, and out of the scope of this discussion. "Superior morality"? Yeah, not so superior when your God tells you not to kill, but you do so anyway. But in the Qur'an, oppression of infidels is required through the paying of tribute, and resistance is to be met by violence.

The debate is over whether the earth is really warming (because many of our climate stations are returning bogus data), followed by whether man's activity is the cause.
