Yeah...my high school had an account that anyone could use until their accounts were active. The account was supposed to be inactive after the first week of school, but they left it active.
The password was 123456.
Last time I checked, it was still active; I graduated from there 4 years ago.
Surely, any of the commercial spyware-sniffing programs will have pressure from the governments to overlook this government-sponsored spyware. Being a commercial endeavor, they are more than likely to succumb.
I live in Bethlehem, PA, too (the wonderful Southside) and when compared to other towns with a similar population density, our broadband sucks. As far as DSL is concerned, we're just lucky because the CO is near the denser parts of town so it seems like a whole mess of people can get 1.5/768 service. As far as cable goes (which I would prefer), you can't get two-way in the majority of town. RCN and Service Electric really need to pick up the pace. With all the students in B'hem, one would think these companies would jump at the chance to service at least all the streets within a couple blocks of campus.
Maybe it wouldn't have stopped 9/11 because the guidelines of the time really didn't think to cover small blades such as the box cutters. However, plastic explosives, plastic weapons? It might just be me, but I have no problem people seeing a digital "nude" of me as long as their professional. From what I could see in the picture on Wired, this technology is revealing, yes, but not to the extent that it can be considered really that "graphic."
Yes, you're right...maybe this wouldn't have stopped 9/11....but with the new, stricter guidelines and this new technology, maybe we won't have to watch thousands of more people die.
Seriously. Who wants to stand there for 47 seconds waiting for the camera to transfer its images between shots. There's only so many times a baby takes its first steps. Who knows if you'll be waiting for the camera to catch up.

Ahh, so having a robot acting as a companion is helping avoid senility. I get it now.
If I'm going to spend $2900 on storage, I would at least want it to be stand-alone network-accessible.
What good is 1.6TB of data if I can't get it in a different room in my house?
I know I could just share the drive, but what if my family members are connected and I have to reboot?
For $2900, I could build a rather nice centralized PVR (with probably just as much storage) and stream the files to other computers/TVs in the house.
Hmm...Speak...See.....so...Hear and Spell?
/me ducks
If my parents gave me cookies for Christmas when I was younger, I would have run away from home... ...well, if I wasn't too fat to run.

I converted the MS Word to a PDF and it is available on my school's server. They are going to hate me:

I had an AC/DC concert to go to that night...so I kinda skipped out of the exam early

But the old adage comes to mind: Time is money.
