Cisco's office in Atlanta had something very similar to this in 1999. I remember thinking it was a pretty cool way of using technology but not something I would want to work in. At the time I liked having little geek toys decorating my cube. It would have taking a long time to set up my toys again and again.
Who am I kidding, I still have little geek toys decorating my workspace.
This is excactly my thinking. So many pilots these days are owned by the networks. Meaning that the only way to view shows that may or may not have been good is to buy them at the booths at Dragon*Con. Let's be thankful that it can be picked up by someone.
I was really excited about the potential in this show. I am a big fan of Warren Ellis' work and had high hopes.

Geocaching Crackdown?

Just a few years ago there was a big complaint from the National Park Service that no one ever visited the parks. No people are going and they are complaining that people are going, walking and seeing the parks? Something doesn't set right with me.
I am a geocacher and I have never seen a cache cause damage to a location.
Two years from now, if they get the regulations, they will again be complaining that no one visits the parks again.
I really like your thoughts one the film. I didn't get all of that but it could still be the way it is.
POSSIBLE SPOILERS If you can get instruction to fly a 'copter dumped into you mind I am sure other programs (Agent Smith) would be able to copy into your being.
Remember the prophecy from the first Matrix? There was once a man born inside....that must have been one of the previous Neos. However In Reloaded you here him say "why did no one tell me,..because they didn't know". Someone had to know.
I am hearing a lot of talk about Agent Smith being a virus. I don't think so. Also do some of the computer charachters bring new meanings to zombie processes?
Ever since getting turned on to Transmet I have loved every piece of work by Warren Ellis I can get my hands on. I am about to begin reading the graphic novels of The Authority which I grabbed last night not to mention trying to read as many of the Transmet back issues I can get.
I loved Mek. I loved it so much I bought to copies one I could read and read again and another to put in my "crazed comic collector" collection. However reading Mek I keep getting a feeling I was reading something like Johnny Mnemonic from William Gibson. Who, what or how is your work influenced?
Just for general information, Reload, another book by Ellis, is due on shelves next week as well.
For Hanukkah my girlfriend got me an autographed copy of "Pattern Recognition". Being the huge Willam Gibson fan that I am I couldn't wait to read it. Was even hopen to read it and write a review for slashdot. Small problem with the uncorrected proof. It jumps from page 214 to 247. Which jumps a few chapters and appears to introduce a new charachter.
Of course it is still a great gift just missing some pages.

What we need is a Spelljammer for the metaverse. That will make it better.
These results are not only disturbing; they are dangerous," said Hodding Carter III, president of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation,
So now K.I.T.T has a new purpose. Bring on David Hasselhoff.

Warren Ellis. Okay he writes comic books but Transmet is a great cyberpunk type book.
His current running, 3 book series called Mek is definetly like a Gibson work. There is at least Johnny Mnemonic.
The term cyperpunk was initally used by Bruce Bethke in his short story by the title,...Cyberpunk.
