There are a couple issues that may be in play regarding the video output.
1. Dell may be assuming that there are more existing VGA monitors around (including conference room projectors) and therefore are assuming that when purchasing a $500 subnote, one may not be purchasing an brand new monitor to go with it.
2. If my memory serves me right, DVI/HDMI require royalties for the interfaces to be implemented in devices. I don't believe that is the case for VGA. Eliminating this reduces cost.
3. What Dell could consider would be a Displayport connection http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort, seeing as they are one of the founding members of this interface. It's royalty and license free. However, rollout is still slightly behind.
For those who say Displayport is the wrong way to go due to a low install base, VGA is the exact opposite. Highest install base with the greatest number of options.
I'd love an HDMI a la xps1330, but for $500 I'm not really complaining.
Does anyone know if HDMI/DVI can do VGA passthrough?
When in college, a marketing professor of mine told the class a story of buying his car. He visited multiple dealerships in the area telling them what car he wanted, with what options, etc. He then asked them to write their minimum price on their business card and seal it in an envelope. Once they were all received, he and his wife would sit at home, open the bids and chose the lowest. When asked, "What if my bid is $1000 to high?" to which he replied, "Well, then reduce it another $1000 then."
However, whether he did or didn't do this is up for debate.
If you were willing to buy that mint Chrono Trigger for more than your inital bid, then bid higher.
EMR from high tension power lines?

Quantum Wires

While the effects are still debated, would this have any effect on radiation given off from high tension power lines? Would the electricity be carried at a higher or lower frequency?
Yes, but by passing this legistlation they my "lose" local broadcast on XM radio. But it will force Sirius to not broadcast local content.
Therefore, killing off local content on the main competition to XM whilst holding on to the hundreds of stations around the country playing CC approved content.
(They hope) Sirius will die without the local content, and then CC will have control of all land based and satellite based radio! YEA!

When I tried encoding the song 433 /dev/null was a lossless encoder for me.

No one else has commented on this, but my 2MB account was recently upgraded to 250MB.
I'm not sure how they choosing who to upgrade. I've had the account long before MS bought them, and am constantly at the 2MB limit.
My account has been this way for about a week or two. Has this happened to anyone else?
