    Fixed that for you.

I have close family members who still live the US. One who recently was diagnosed with Cancer. Turns out that the cancer was a result of another illness which went undetected for nearly 20 years.
The medicine for the illness is in excess of 40k per treatment in America. The family member was able to come to the EU country in which I live and paid 1000€ for the non-insurance price to have the doctor give the injections.
The people who support this price gouging system, to mind, are fucking disgusting human beings. If in fact they should even be considered Humans.
What kind of sick fuck literally holds lives hostage in an effort to increase their profits 100 fold?
Worse than ISIS, Hitler, Stalin and Satan combined.

  3. And this is a prime example of why cloud based services are a shit idea. Personally, I think that it is foolish to rely on any cloud based service where other options exist.

Look at all those stupid nest smoke alarms going off after a FW update was pushed.
Or this recent fiasco with all the people using an internet connected door lock and having a bricked unit thanks to an update.
Or photobucket decided that it's no longer OK to link to your photos from other sites after you were doing it for years and was literally the only reason to use that stupid site.
What happens when you cloud storage company closes up shop and you lose your data? Maybe you are outside of the US, but the company is a US based company and the feds decide to raid the data center and take the drives?
I don't even recall what the company or product was, but last year one of these device companies closed up shop which made all the hardware useless.
Something which ONLY works when connected to the internet is just stupid.

No one in Germany is withheld an education...full stop.

No one is told by anyone he cannot go to uni. He must decide by his own which path to take.
Even if he goes to realschule (non uni track) he can still later go to uni if he wants. It is not that hard to get accepted either. In the worst case he will need to take 1 or 2 years of prep school before starting. This is pretty common though.

NRW was the last to switch back, but as I know, in 2016 they also went back to the old way.

  7. Why not Germans? on India is Betting On Compulsory Internships To Improve Its Unemployable Engineers (qz.com) · · Score: 5, Interesting

First, I will say that the program seems like a great idea and I wish them success.

Next, I can say that in my company, we had very, very bad luck with Indian engineers and SW developers. I am not talking about H1 imports either. Ultimately, I think it came down to cultural differences which created a mismatch of expectations from both sides.
After the 5th one, we more or less stopped considering those applications.
We are not a large company, but we do tend to have 5 to 10 interns at any one time. We did accept a few interns from India as well. We sponsored the visas and all that. Didn't really work out.

Then, we starting bringing German interns in. Maybe some people will get offended by this statement, but I can say in about 95% of the cases, the German interns we got were far superior engineers than our full time US master degree engineers. Their problem solving skills, critical thinking and overall work ethics were, for us, amazing.
For nearly all of them, at the end of their internship we offered them a contract plus visas. Of course, this is much easier to handle with Germans because of the visa treaty.
The thing is, they also ask for much less money than out of school Americans and they are vastly better engineers. Whatever they are doing in their schools seems to be working.
Basically what I am saying is, why do so many companies jump through hoops to bring in scores of cheap Indian guys when way better engineers are also willing to come?

We say... OK, we can do 30% less, but we will not offer any support. If you do not know how to fix something, or fill out some form, then it's not our problem.
    They agree.
Then, they fuck everything and demand support and extra support. I forward them the earlier emails and reminding them they agreed to no support and tell them that I would be happy to send out a new offer to include support at our standard list price. They decline.

Then for the next project, they ask for an even bigger discount because the support last time was not good. Every..fucking...time.

Naturally, most folks are simply afraid of being a racist or other "ist" word.

Honestly, I do not know understand why it is an issue to dislike someone because they are Muslim. It's not like disliking a person because they are brown, or black or whatever color.
Islam is a religion and an ideology. It is reasonable to not like a person based on what they choose to believe?

Everyone keeps repeating this notion that Islam is the religion of peace, but that it total bullshit. The backbone of Islam is based on submission. The word Islam means submit!
I work with several guys from Morocco. Naturally, they are all Muslim. They are seem like "normal" guys to me. I once asked one of my colleagues, hey... man, I heard that the Quran says that it is OK to hit your wife if she is disobedient or disrespectful.
His answer... Of course! How else shall she learn? He went on to explain that of course, you could not cause damage or marks, but only enough that she gets the point and never more.

For all those people who say how great and peaceful Muslim people are... go to the middle east. Take your wife, or go alone if you are a woman. See how "peaceful" they are. I have lived in the middle east and I will not support or "tolerate" and religion that puts so little value on a human because of their sex.
