You are still required to make at least minimum wage as a tipped employee though. If you make less than minimum wage, the employer has to comp you up to minimum wage on your paycheck

But I was saying, there is a different minimum wage for tipped employees vs non-tipped employees.

Frankly, back then I made WAAAAY more than min. wage of non-tipped people with my small min wage (basically covered taxes, not much more) and tips. If you know how to schmooze tips, it helps....helps develop people skills for later real jobs too!!

    Sure, but remember:

    1. The constitution doesn't GRANT rights, all rights are thought to be 'natural' born rights everyone comes with when they hit the atmosphere here on earth. So, privacy is an right by birth. Unless the govt/state passes a law limiting that right, you have it.

    2. The constitution (again) doesn't grant rights, but instead enumerates the limited powers the government is supposed to have over you....the bill of rights is there giving special note to some rights, but you had them without the bill of rights...just just are there to special attention to those they mention.

In spite of all that, I think unpaid internships should still be an option because they do work great for a lot of people that can live with their parents or have other income. However, I wouldn't be opposed to there being a separate minimum wage for interns and underage kids - something just high enough to cover the cost of commuting, required clothing and other job-related expenses that employers don't normally pay employees extra for.

    Interesting.

Sounds like how there is presently a different min. wage requirement for tipped employees (waiters, bartenders, etc). Back when I did it,I think the min. wage was about $1.60 or so an hour?

I mean its written out for you when you intern what to expect, and if you feel like you shouldn't have to do it you can say no. I don't think this is going anywhere though, the judge is clearly bat-shit stupid.

Its kinda like those jackassses years back, that worked at MS as contractors (signed contracts and all), then, came back and sued MS for not getting employee benefits.

Really kinda fucked over everyone else that wants to work as contractor...as that it made all companies edgy about hiring 1099 folks directly. It helps if YOU are also incorporated to ensure that it is 1099 corp-to-corp, but still made things difficult...especially for one man companies, where the good $$ is to be made rather than split your bill rate with a 3rd party.

We need these jobs that teach kids skills, and/or allow them to start to earn money, and find out what it entails for working a job, dependability and responsibility, and how to manage money.

Most of the people I've met find that game gets old by their mid-thirties, if not sooner. As for an increased sample size improving the odds of finding a suitable mate, I don't see how casual sex helps with finding someone who is emotionally compatible, and bagging women doesn't usually imply that you're trying to get to know them.

    I don't follow your logic.

You date a LOT of women to increase your chances of finding a suitable mate. While dating women, you date them more that 3 times often, right? Well, you do usually have sex by about the 3rd date if not sooner, because that *is* a big part of a relationship, right?

I mean, if you're dating a woman that is into you, and you don't make a sexual move, they're going to put you in 'friend' zone, which isn't the fun thing it sounds like, it means you are not going to have a full relationship with said woman.

So, yes, dating a lot, even seriously means you are going to be 'bagging' a good number of them...?

That's one thing about NOT getting married younger, once you get past a certain age, what's left out there is largely damaged goods, lots of crazy chicks out there. Not all, but a LOT of them. After a few years, you start catching the good ones coming out of bad marriages, many of those are damaged too, BUT, if you find one coming of marriage that didn't go off the deep end, you have a pretty good, strong minded woman which is kinda nice.

Trouble is with the latter one, you have to possibly put up with kids....ugh. However, meet them a few years after that, often the kids will be old enough to be out of, or just about out of the house, then, you don't really have that much interaction with them, or dependence issues.

But yeah, you gotta watch out, lots of crazies out there...crazies are often fun in the sack, but be careful not to get too close or attached to them, they can really spin your world badly.
