    If for some reason you want to marry one of them...make damned sure about her before you tie that legally binding knot.

    And the girlfriend/wife? Why would you hide that you look at porn to her? She know's your a guy and you look at it..and if she doesn't like it.tough luck for her....geez, grow a pair, eh?

    But cutting military spending is only one part.

    We ALSO have to cut/reform Social Security and the Medicare/Medicaid fiasco.

    Those are the other big gorillas in the room....and we can't get outta debt and on track unless we cut those back to reality too.

    We can't afford the obamacare thing either...repeal that and replace it with real reform....they could start with letting medical insurance be sold across state lines for real competition.....works well for auto insurance...

    I don't understand this statement that the US still pays vast amounts of money for health care. The US federal govt hasn't ever paid shit for my health care. I pay the premiums...etc, and have been VERY satisfied by my coverage. Both while W2 employed...and when contracting and paying on my own (I LOVED stuffing a HSA with pre-tax money for health needs)....

    Now..obamacare is gonna fsck that up..it is already hitting...and I forsee in next years, I'll be paying more and getting much less.

    Going forward the US IS going to start paying more..but aside from medicare/medicaid.what was the govt paying for?

    Well, we could start by closing the majority of our bases around the world. I mean, do we really need such a presence in Europe? I'm not seriously worried about the Germans taking over again, nor of the Soviet Union crossing through Berlin.

    Heck..we could still keep military superiority...but quit trying to defend the rest of the free world.

    Hmm...hell, one of the reasons so many of the countries in the EU can have all that 'free healthcare' and other entitlements, is because they don't have to pay much for their military defense...the US does.

    We should pull out of all those countries...and let them worry about defending themselves. I'm not just picking on Europe...but pretty much all of our bases that really aren't that strategic to the US.

    I'd think that would take a healthy chunk out of defense spending?

    Yeah, but welfare back then, didn't mean what welfare does now. They didn't mean for programs to hand out money to people or support their lives/livestyles. It didn't mean federal government handouts, or wealth redistribution.

    Well, there's nothing wrong with following the letter of the law, is there? Nothing wrong with trying to keep as much of your money legally from the tax man as possible, is there?

    I mean...YOU take every deduction you possibly can on your state and federal income taxes..don't you? What's the difference?

    Until they basically rip up the current tax code...and get something as simple, flat and basic as they can get....the tax code is set up for them to initially get as much as they can from you, and then it is up to you to find the deductions and holes they've legislated in there for yourself.

    But, from what I understand...Amazon either contracts with, or at the very least, does not directly OWN that facility....so, they argue they don't have a presence in the state.

    So, if this is Fred's Distribution Centers, LLC...and Amazon contracts with them for work...does Amazon have a legal presence in TX? I mean..is this not the same as Amazon using Fed Ex or the airlines to transport stuff, some of which goes through TX...should TX claim a presence for any company that has some product travel or be handled through that state on its way to other destinations?

    Look at the article tho..from what I understand..legally..the facility is NOT directly owned by Amazon...that is how they were getting by with not having a direct presence there.

    But I think the legal thing here is..the storage/dist. is supposedly owned by another company..not by Amazon directly.

    I think this is the thing TX is trying to get at...but if it has been legal to do this in the past, and no law has been passed changing this (I don't see that it has yet)..then Amazon is right in saying they don't legally own sales tax because they don't have a direct presence in TX.

    If TX wants to change the law..go ahead, but from what I understand Amazon is playing by the existing rules...

    It isn't just 6.25% sales tax. They DO have pretty hefty property taxes if I recall.

    All states get you..one way or another...one tax or another.

    Well, to each his own.

    There are lots of people that have $100-$200 extra disposable income in their budgets a month for a smart phone.

    Does everyone need one? No.

    Does everyone want one? No

    But if you have the funds and want one...it is a NICE thing to have. I use mine constantly...but for some, it would be a waste of time and money.
