    I don't have room in my kitchen and bathrooms to have multiple waste containers, and I'm not going to spend the time sorting and "washing' things....

    I don't see a net positive added to my lifestyle by taking this effort.

    If other people want to do this and recycle, more power to them, but not worth it to me.

    I've heard some states/cities actually PAY trashmen inspectors to make sure you do this...?

    Glad I've never lived where they actually pay people to inspect your garbage.

    Here, if you throw it in the main trash can(s)...they pick it up, pretty much no matter what it is.

    Just like the old days.

    ...but I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that very few (if any) such projects are going to be running on a grossly overpriced all-in-one iMac.

    Well, depends on what you're working on.

    If you are working say, on 4K RAW video, in Davinci Resolve, and have some serious color grades on there, doing some sound work, AND...using Fusion in there too doing basically VFX....well, that can bog a machine down pretty badly if you don't have something pretty beefy.

    Hell, even with just HD video, RAW or not, adding color grades and effects can bog down most mortal computer systems...

    And I'll admit, on this new spec iMac Pro, I've not done the hardware comparison, but I think on the first round of iMac pro, if you spec'ed out the type of RAM used, the GPU and other actual components and tried to build a regular PC with same or almost the same (not cheap-o) components, the price difference really wasn't that much, in a few cases I'd see the mac was actually a couple dollars less that a workstation built to the same hardware standards?

    Hmm...I wondering what the new Mac Pro will come with standard and with options...think it'll hit the $20K mark maxed out?

    It's a great way to funnel tax money to the military-industrial complex.

    Hey, it's still JOBS and helps move the economy along....

    Nice thing about it...is that often these types of jobs require clearances, and pretty much ONLY US citizens can qualify, so it keeps the jobs IN the US.

    Generally well paying jobs too!!

    The underlying problem is the FAA has a revolving door to the Aviation Industry where people, regulation and oversight passes through unobstructed by responsibility or moral conscience.

    It isn't just the FAA, this is a problem with many if not MOST of the Federal Regulatory agencies....

    Look at the FDA rosters, and you can easily see why we won't ever get sensible food regulations/recommendations the would actually help address obesity, etc....in the US.

    Importantly, I've been using it since 1997 - any alternative has to be featureful and intuitive, and it's competing with 20+ years of muscle memory and needs to be able to correctly read ~15 years of files.

    Give Affinity Photo a look.

    I believe they have a 30 day trial, is on both Windows and Mac.

    Most of the layout is the same, as are most of the keyboard shortcuts.

    I use public transportation every day. There are camera's in every bus that I take. You can either pay directly on the bus, or through an app which is what I used.

    We may not be using facial recondition payment yet for public transportation, but it already is just as bad.

    Hmm..yet another reason for me not to take public transportation....even if it were a viable resource where I live.

    The only way to be 100% safe is to ensure that the images do not exist in the first place.

    That was my original assertion that started this thread.

    The only way to prevent revenge porn on you, is to NOT allow yourself to be photographed or video shot of you naked or doing a sex act.

    urgh. Beto? Unless he backtracks and distances himself from ever being associated with jackasses like me I'm not seeing a great reason to vote for him.

    Well, he is young, he is apparently VERY social media savvy.....and decent looking guy.

    That alone will prompt a ton of millennial to vote for him even before he starts pushing for socialistic type issues.

    I'd be worried about him....

    Kinda awkward.

    I agree it's what everyone should do, it's just not good advice, because there's literally no set of circumstances in which it'd be followed. If you don't trust your partner, you're probably not going to let them film you already.

    Well, trust only goes JUST so far...trust of anyone.

    Remember, in this world, the ONLY person you can trust 101% implicitly...is YOU.

    I guess exceptions have to be made for schizophrenic folks, but those are outliers.

    I've got a quick and cheap way to avoid 'revenge porn'.

    Don't let people take pictures/video of you while nekkid or while performing sex acts.

    It actually works...

    Sometimes it is the simple answers that are the best.

    So, they don't have you memorize the multiplication tables, through the 12's like they did back in my day or other things like that?

    God I hated that, mom and dad basically grounded me till I got them memorized, but once I did, it stuck with me for life.

    When doing anything math related to multiplying, I don't have to sit and think usually, I just know the answer.

    Is the new math (some people are calling Comon Core?) methods not using any rote memorization and ways of teaching that seemed perfectly effective back in the prehistoric ages when I was in school?

    Shenzhen is at 22N latitude -- fortunately, this will work less well in climates where people often wear hats, baklavas, and sunglasses at the same time and can't be arsed to take them off for a 5 min subway trip.

    Ok, so there aren't many of them in the US, but I am a bit horrified of this tech coming over here in general.

    I"m not a fan of all the cameras that are up, and not happy that facial recognition is already being introduced....for all purchases and transactions?

    Man, this could really lead to a bleak future bereft of what little privacy we still cling onto.

    Try raising a flock in your backyard, where they can scrounge for insects and worms, and you will get much more flavor. The egg yolks are a deep orange color instead of the pale yellow yolks from battery cage chickens.

    I don't really have the room, my backyard is pretty small, but I do have friends that raise chickens and when they have extra eggs, I buy them and you are right, the difference in the eggs is like night and day.

    They BEST deviled eggs I've ever made are with the naturally raised ones.

    Vegetarians pretty much taste like chicken anyway.

    That's not saying much...

    Today's chicken, like most other industrially raised foods has LOST pretty much all flavor.

    Hell, I don't even buy tomatoes fresh in the grocery store anymore, they're just flavorless, and often horrible texture.

    I long for my summer gardens for real tomatoes...especially more heirloom 'ugly' ones that you can just sit and eat like an apple.

    I've been experimenting with hydroponic growing indoors for the off season grows...good results there too.
