    Err...why would anyone need a bag of stuff to juice?

    It is so simple (and I'm guessing more economical) to go to the grocery store and get some veggies and/or fruits and throw down a regular juicer.

    Hell, I have a Breville multi-speed one for about $200....why would someone buy a $400 machine that requires you to buy prepackaged produce to be squeezed out of it...?

    How did so many people think this was a bright idea?

    I've had an older equivalent of these Shure earphones for about a decade and I love them.

    I think they were about $499 when I got mine, so, prices are fairly consistent.

    They give about as good a sound as you can get from a mp3 player while riding a bike or in the gym.

    I really like them, but won't be as easy to use on next phone unless Apple stops being "brave" and reconsiders the jack removal from new products.

    I think in some areas, you *do* get what you pay for...and I like to get as good a sound reproduction as I can when out and about exercising, and the way they seal your ears off, makes them great for flying on a plane and shutting out the noise (plane, babies, etc).

    My dog chewed up a pair I first had, and I found that the company was great and for $100 would replace them with a new pair which worked out great for me.

    Good thing God makes puppies cute.

    Actually, it also assumes that laws against using a phone in the car are universal, and in the US, they vary by state to state.

    I believe in my state, it is against the law to text and drive, however, you are fully free to talk on the phone all you want while driving.

    I don't want to try to work through the calculus of how well the driver performed, how much I value it, how much the driver deserves, and how much social aggression I'll face if the driver thinks they've been shorted. I just need a ride. I don't need a passive-aggressive douche pressuring me to tip well on my way to the airport.

    A good rule of thumb.

    Tip 20% of the total bill.....

    There...done....easy.

    And the prices should also include sales tax! If I have to pay it, it should be on the menu / store shelf.

    It feels very backwards having to do math to find out what I actually have to pay. And finding out what the sales tax is when travelling.

    I"m guessing if one has to calculate the tax and tip to the penny....one likely can't afford to be eating out like that.

    If anything, the law should not encourage tipping at all, rather than effectively making it obligatory. I.e. put servers, drivers, bartenders, etc under the same wages as everybody else (be that minimum wage or otherwise,) and make tipping a thing of the past.

    You might want to consult with all the waiters and bartenders before you do this.

    Back in the day when I waited tables and slung drinks, I *really* liked the tipping system. I was able to shmooze a good living while in school.

    I would dare say good servers would wish to keep the system currently in place as that if you are good, you can make WELL above min. wage on a regular basis.

    So OTA is financed pretty much the same way.just have less anti-skip protection especially when the OTA part is analog.

    I dunno where you live, but everywhere I've lived and visited in the US so far....any OTA content is definitely digital...beautiful HD content that isn't nearly so compressed as it is coming through cable or satellite.

    Honestly, this ad skip blocking is fully consistent with what I've seen among other cable providers. CenturyLink Prism seemed to do exactly this before I ditched it last month.

    Well, I don't get this with Playstation VUE.

    If I have it set for DVR, I can commercial skip.

    If I have it set to DVR and there is also an ON Demand for it, I can watch the DVR version (gives a choice) and ad skip.

    And...I find that some show, often the Fox ones, like with Family Guy, even if it says On Demand only...some of these without commercials will still allow you to skip if you want to for some reason.

    People freak out when I turn off the damned IM.

    Tell them to email you if they need an IM session....tell them that for some reason IM isn't working on your machine some times, etc...

    I found my productivity has skyrocketed since I turned IM off....

    Having a door and having control of the lights is really helpful in this kind of thing. Also, don't have a visitor's chair if you don't need to deal with visitors professionally.

    When I want to be left alone I leave the overhead lights off and only use the freestanding lamp. When I need to be left alone I close the office door. If I worked in a 3.5 sided cubicle I would probably put my woodworking skills to practice and make a gate for myself. Gate closed, don't bother me for social occasions.

    I find too..that working from office (back in the day) or from home (present day), if I turn off the damned IM, I can get a TON more work done, without stupid questions popping up breaking my concentration.

    I find IM to be the equivalent of the folks that have nothing better to do than drop by your cube to bother you with idle chit chat....

    A solid backhand will stop the kids from ever bothering you again. But parents these days are frightened to discipline their precious little snowflakes, instead they run wild and grow up without boundaries.

    Hmm...in my growing up days, it was "five across the eyes"....hahaha.

    But seriously, you should have enough discipline and control in the home to be able to control the situation to allow work from home.

    With kids, well, some do require corporal punishment, if dealt with in a calm, non-abusive manner.

    Lord know's "I" needed a good ass whoopin' a time or too to get my attention.

    And it did, and I"m much better off as an adult for it...

    Yup....

    If you cannot tame your kids or wife enough to adhere to a simple "do not disturb" policy, you're got more problems at home than working from home.

    What happened to a little discipline and control at home....?

    That's pretty hard core.

    I will admit, I was mostly a one cause voter, and I hate to admit that...but I was voting to get the Supreme Court seat filled with a (hopefully) Scalia type replacement. At this point, I think that's what I got, at least, I hope so.

    But I don't consider myself racist, and I'm not quite sure the major racist things Trump has said or promotes.

    I do see him as nationalistic...US citizens to be served by the US government above all other interests, and I do agree largely with that, seems common sense.

    I don't see racism in that thought process either.

    Right, because they're getting started with pilots and writing season now. This is how there are shows in fall. They are filmed and edited in advance.

    I would think most of the writing of those fall shows had already taken place by now and were in the can...mostly ready for shooting....?

    Who cares, most "real" shows are going into summer reruns here soon if not already.

    TWD is off till next Oct, etc....

    Not much new content to watch in summer anyway, so, let them strike.

    Just curious, do streaming services like Netflix/Amazon Prime have to bother with writers unions/guilds? If not, well, certainly a boon to them, they can keep churning out what is becoming more and more good independent content that is worth watching.

    When I was a sole proprietor in Illinois I was never forced to pay unemployment insurance.

    I'm a corporation, S-Corp to be precise.

    Sole Proprietor for all sorts of legal reasons is the worst thing to do, you open up your personal assets to be taken by the first person that sues you.

    And with S-Corp, I'm able to save and not pay SS/Medicare on 100% of my bill rate, I save a good bit of money that way.

    But as a corp, you have to pay unemployment insurance.

    You should realize that your congress critters work for rich people and corporations and are bribed by them to keep their taxes low and put special loopholes in the law so they don't have to pay taxes. Congress doesn't work for voters.

    If you're just a regular working stiff and not a corporation or rich person, you are paying too much tax.

    Well, if the congress critters won't listen, then the people join together, grass roots it and get someone else elected.

    See how change happened this time around in Presidential race?

    It has happened in congress before too.

    That being said, I wish we could maybe go back to having Senators be appointed by the state and not for general election...that way they would be more answerable to state (and hence local) needs.

    They already have a skin in the game, through sales tax, gas tax, etc.

    Those for the most part are STATE and other local taxes, not federal.

    They should have skin in the federal game too....and if they did, they might have more concern on how those tax dollars are spent/wasted at the federal level and be more involved and less of a sponge on society.

    You can simplify the tax code without pulling out this "fair tax" / flat tax bullshit.

    Well, given that about 40% or more of the US effectively pays "0" income tax, I"m sorry, that's just not right.

    Everyone should have skin in the game and pay in.

    I con't think of Fair Tax/Flat Tax as BS. If you make $X, you pay %X.

    That's about as fair as it gets.

    If you want to make it a national sales tax, that seems to get even more fair (no tax on food), but at that point, you start to bring in revenue from all citizens, even criminals have to buy stuff from stores.

    And the rich tend to buy more items, expensive items, so this would hit them likely even more than today's "progressive" tax system.

    But bottom line, no one should get by without some skin in the game.
