    Im guessing the only reason MS would want this book off the shelves, if it contained anything relevent to removing copyprotection.
    Its common knowledge that they sold the xbox as a loss, and intended to make there money off the games etc. well guess what. if you mod yor xbox to run linux, you have screwed MS out of a lot of $$$. A LOT of people depend on the money made from the XBOX and its products. Game developers, shop staff. hardware companies etc etc.
    lots of people need that money. money some people here like to not really care about at all.

    NZ does not have the tools to fight.
    We have no attack airforce, just a few dozen transport planes. we have 20 year old APCs, and only 3 (soon to be 2) frigate class warships.

    and, buy guessing, the USA's millitary budget is more than the total budget for everything in NZ.

    did anyone really have a problem with all the warez was floating around (when i had a amiga in the late 80s all i can remember were playing pirated CLASS releases of games)

    but none really cared, it wasnt every joe doe leaching off whatever. i was only the few, who knew what they were doing could get it.

    what i hope is the RIAA forces the whole warez sceen back underground, so the general public cannot access it.

    the people who made napster are bad. BBS were the place to go for warez, and it took skill to use it. napster brought a GUI to warez.

    quite frankly i dont care if the RIAA kills off P2P, its fine by me. ill get my goods, no matter how hard they try.

    and, i would like to leave you with a one line summary of the above: feel free to use this line as much as u want, i do!!

    I love there monitors, most of my mates do to. at LAN partys round here philips outnumber the rest like 4 to 1.

    I myself personally use a philips 107T4, which is the best Flat CRT ive used.

    And the thing that tops it off, is the LightFrame feature:

    Xtra is owned by telecom.
    telecom has the monopoly on telecommunications (land based, and just miss out by a few million for cell phones).

    Telecom have total power.
    For starters as the company that owns all the exchanges, anyone wanting DSL must pay them to connect it and then a monthly fee ($NZ30 a month)

    They also OWN the netgate. The majority of NZs international traffic goes out through this (which connects to the southern cross cable)
    they can do practicaly what ever they want with it.

    They also have the power to do silly things like at peak phone usage times, DISCONNECT dialup users to give more phonelines. they fob off the customer who pays 30$ a month, so someone else can pay 10$ for a 15min call to there relative to say 'merry xmas'

    As i understood, valve were making TF2 on the HL engine, however they then found out the limitations of the engine and decided to re-write the engine. TF2 was ment to be similar to battlefield1942, in which you take command of cars trucks tanks etc. im guessing they are also working with CS people, to ensure they can mod it succesfully too.

    IIRC they did, so Intel has everything thing to gain from AMD jumping in head first.

    im sure intel (and AMD in 3years) could whip out a 10ghz cpu, at a cheep cost. but it wouldnt be economical (ie miss out 3 generations of CPU revenue)intel have many years of R&D under there belt... AMD are so young they are still using suspenders..........

    I have a 1.7ghz p4 williamete with 128kb of L2 (celeron 1.7ghz :P) (stable at 2.1ghz+ with intel OEM HSF rated to 2.4ghz)... Some programs do actualy have trouble determining the cache of the CPU, (2 mIRC scripts say 0kb, and a few other programs display blanks under L2..)

    Dont know if its related but yea......

    ..to visit the local computer stores >:D i would like to inform you all, that a vidoe with the bloopers from the first 2 segments has been produced, and only a few people so far have actualy seen it. I had the opertunity to see it a few days ago(sometimes living in new zealand kicks ass :). The video was a limited vewing release, and it had <b>Property of new line cinema</b> 2/3 way down the screen the WHOLE time, so if some tv corp got hold of it, it would be useless.

    You send you children to school, to learn. about things like the world around them and how to communicate etc...
    Computers are only tools to aid in this teaching. At my school we have around 60+ Imacs, with a g4 file/print/web server, and 3 other misc servers (DNS router,internet router + others)
    now that i have used these (how many of you who have posted mesages above, actualy used a high-school grade computing system in the past 3years? fuck al. i bet...), i can honestly say that it makes no difference to the QUALITY OF EDUCATION i received at a apple based school....
    How about we start teaching our children how to read write and add?
    Instead of teaching them how to make there poem look fancy on the screen, teach them how to spell the words right in the first place!
