Ok, i'll ask it.....why is a plane like a movie thearter? Why do you need complete silence from the other passangers? Think of it more like a bus or a subway, it's loud, people make calls, people do buisness, they talk (and if your in NYC screaming profanities and masturbating occur fairly reguarly). They are another form of mass transit, and as long as the person follows the rules, for when it's SAFE to use the phone why should it be a problem if they call as soon as it's allowed.
See my view, I can aford it, but all I watch is FOX, NBC and CBS, why get cable for that? Especially since by the end of the year Comcast is ONLY going to offer digital cable in my area. It would be $75 a month for the "basic" package I would have like 100 channels, and I would still only watch NBC, FOX and CBS.
And $10 a month for unlimited dial up would get me about 1/7 of the way to what I would need to spend to get cable, and I would still only watch FOX, NBC and CBS.
HELL YEA! I would be pissed if they went to all cable/sat. I don't have either, infact I have a nice big antenna on my roof. I wouldn't have TV anymore if they did that.
Um, that's probably what SCO has wanted this entire time. To get IBM to buy them and let everyone at SCO get even richer. If IBM does buy SCO it proves to the world that you can make money w/ a lawsuit against a big company weather you have grounds or not. If IBM does buy SCO out, it will open the floodgates that much further. I hope IBM and Novell and the Linux community in general stick to their guns and fight this crap. Don't left SCO win by just making them all rich!
I believe that even if you said that, people could conclude that they had not shown you any code, and you would have "given" away that info. This NDA is drafted in a way that gives them alot of power over what you can say. Either way, i don't think it would be really worth the risks to ANYONE to sign this thing and get the "sneek preview" of their evidence. It's just more FUD.
If i'm reading this correctly IANAL but I think that you sign it, they show you the linux code, and then say end of show. IF you say ANYTHING you breach the contract. You can't even tell people that they didn't show you anything. This NDA is a smokescreen.
Hmmm.....let me thing, the damn things gotta have a fuse somewhere. Opppps.....i swear I don't know how that fuse blew out, but I swear I only drove 5 miles all year!
Then again assuming that they program has no malicious intent, an individual who got rejected by MS could call the justice department and claim that MS is unfairly acting an a monolopy again. Might not work, but could give MS some more legal troubles.
After all, if you don't teach insane amouts of theory and flunk out at least 30% of the freshman class you'll have too many students there the next year!
Yes, it matters. The point is if we find non-terestrial life, if it has the same source as our life, we still only know of 1 instance of bio-genisis, and our calculated odds of other life remain the same. If we can prove a SECOND occurance of bio-genisis then the calculated odds of more life go up. The issue isn't can it exist, it's can it be created.
I hate to point this out, but even if there is life on mars it doesn't in any way change the statistical probablity of finding life on other planets else where. The problem would be not only do you have to prove there IS life on mars, but that it didn't come from earth, earth's didn't come from mars and they taht didn't come from the same (non earth/mars)source. If you can prove all that then you increase the liklyhood of life elsewhere, however even they you don't increase the odds greatly. Also, just because you increase the odds doesn't make it any more or less true. If questions of ETs is already solved, 100% we just don't know the answer.:)
Well they tell people comming in that it's a hard school. They don't hid their drop-out rate, they tell people flat out they will have to work hard, budget their time, and manage lots of stressors to survive there. There are pleanty of community colleges and state schools that pepople can go to and get a 4-year degree that will get them a job. However if one wants a degree from a school that is well ranked and respected, and where the grads tend to get GOOD jobs they need to expect it to be harder. I have no sympathy for those who know going in what it's going to be like and then can't cut it. In my program it the first day of Freshman Seminar (the first week of first simester, first year) and they say "look 2 people to your right, two people to your left; odds are 1 of you 5 will still be here at graduation". You know what, they were right, 43 out of about 200 made it to graduation. THEY NEVER HID the fact that it was guuna be hard. They are weeding out the people who arn't able to cut it. I survived, and for 2 quartes that's what it was about, surviving. However i am not confident that no mater what I face at work, i can do it because it can never be as bad as that 25 weeks. Those who we lost, well they had as much as a chance as anyone else of making it. They just didn't.
Ha i'm out of college and working, a home owner, and you know what, i still have no clue what I really want to do. I'm looking at getting a second degree in a different field and trying something else. I like what I do, and i'm good at it, i'm just not sure it's what i WANT to do. If you know at 18 great, and i hope that's still the thing for you at 24, for alot of us that's not really what we want. We are still looking for that. In fact, i would be happy if i spent my entire life looking.:)
Actually if you read it they are still allowed to do this. Comcast (which is the local provider) only has things like HBO, STARZ, ect on that list. Also Comcast is phasing out analog cable...in my area all new customers are REQUIRED to have digital cabel and I have been told that at that by the end of the year all existing coustomers will be forced to switch over. Once in the digital realm, they don't have to follow that law. So they can still gouge people and still be perfectly legal.
I doubt that they "like" it. It looks bad in most liturature and reviews of the school, rightfully so. If they had better admission standards or better services they could prolly keep more students. They tollerate it because it gets the size of the school up.
Does that stop most schools from charging a fee to every student for the health center (gym) and even those 400 lb couch potatos get to pay for that. Welcome to the real would where sometimes you have to pay from crap you don't want. After all why do I have to pay for Disney, ESPN, and that crap to get Sci-Fi channel? They would pay the fee and jsut not use the service and chalk it up to the price of going to that school.
As a former RIT student I say "What other tech school in Upstate NY?" :)

Well actually if you think about it the Goatse.cx Channel would kinda show some "trading spaces" are at least some "loaning interior space".
Ok, i know that was a reall reall grim thought.

However if they tell you that there are NO lines of code, you cannot give any indication of that to the public without violating the NDA!

The other big factor: Did you use any company software to make it (Like was it a company owner compiler, or a company owned debugger).
Hmmm.....let me thing, the damn things gotta have a fuse somewhere. Opppps.....i swear I don't know how that fuse blew out, but I swear I only drove 5 miles all year!

Yeah NPR, I love National Communist Radio. :)

"How can you be the Lone Rangers? There's 3 of you."
No, there will be an electrical fault and it will fry any life it finds. :)

And if they cashed out then the SEC gets to send them to prision.....maybe they can share a cell block with Martha!
