I understand that, But think about this, the "slingshot" is ALWAYS swinging at a constat velocity. Your ship gets in position at it's nice SLOW pace, the "hook" comes along and grabs your ship, no that hook is going REALLY fast compared to your velocity, for the next few min you get rapidly accelerated! The point wasn't about the initial takeoff, it's about when you actually use the booster sling!
The elevators AND this "slingshot" have the same problem. Tension ripping the cable. This has the added fun of the acceleration mashing you into the rear wall...i hope they don't sling the craft TOO hard!
As long as for EVERY edited video there was one unedited i'm cool with it. What I mean is if someone buys a DVD and makes a "cleaned" version, I would have no problem with them "sharing" that version with anyone who legaly owned a copy of the original DVD. If people know what they are getting and get what they want (and the artists/backers get their money) why not? It just means 1 person edits and anyone who wants a cleaned copy doens't have to "make their own". I wouldn't want the edited movie, but if some parent wants the clean version for their kids, why not?
If your at the park, and need WLAN to check the weather, you have problems. With MOST ISPs sharing your connection with the neighbors violates the TOS.
Or perhaps i just havn't had enought coffee yet today.:)

Um....if you live in hurricane/tornado/blizzard prone areas your view on that "wind-up radio" might change. Their IS a market for that product and people will pay for it (and it's development/improvement). Just because 1 person doesn't like/see a use for that product doesn't mean it isn't there. This article misses the point that these "creature comforts" may not make people "happy" or "fufilled" but they make getting my ass outa bed in the morning that much easier. Once i've had my coffee from my auto-timered pot and a shower (using hot water from a water heater with a timer that's a hugh energy saver) i'll be a lot more prepared to go insearch of happiness/fufillment/my next caffine hit.
Oh yeah...i can see it now, people throwing away even MORE cds. I'm sure tree-huggers everywhere would LOVE to have more useless CDs in landfills. As if all those AOL cds i chuck arn't bad enough now i can throw away blockbuster DVDs and then I can't buy pre-viewed DVDs for cheap!
Yeah, but there are times that it IS the CPU. Thanks to top I can tell when i've got both processors on my system locked at 99%. There are some things taht are just computationally intensive. If you are doing something in that catagory then faters processors are good things.:)
There are Xeon MP procs w/ 2 Meg Caches. I'm not positive but I believe that opteron also has a 1 Meg Cache. If your looking at doing something that high-end there ARE options out there. They just arn't cheap.
You mean kinda like then need to modify fabs every time there's a size change now? Wanna go to 90 nm, re-tool the fab, wanna go to 60 nm, re-tool the fab. It happens all the time now, and it's not gunna stop anytime soon.
And it has to be left ON. A tivo that's plugged in powers it self on at the right time and starts recording. When I had a capture card/software on my PC my biggest issue was turning it off when I went out, and realizing later I should have left it on. It's nice to have a morwe robust solution that i can set it and forget it.

I'm sure any surch for "linux" on MS's search engine is going to be totally unbiased. :)
Just use really thick pressurized plastic bags to bring them home from the pet store :) he he he
And you obviously don't drive I-80 from Penn. to CA much. :)
I didn't mean to imply that all inventions were useful. :)

Foil hat? HA. I've got my tin foil underware on!
He's taling about PEOPLE FROM CHINA....they arn't americans of ANY kind!
No, but they might release the money if they present a death cirtificate. :) "Everything's legal in Mexico, it's the american way."

Intel getting smacked around? I think it's a pretty even day, afterall intel announced More Advanced Triple-Gate Transistor Design One Step Closer to Production today.
Actually that is an Opteron not an Athlon 64. There are differences between the Server/Workstation and desktop chips.
"I didn't think that it was possible but this both sucks and blows at the same time."

Pop is what I do when I want the next element in my array! :) MOOOOOOO
Ya' can always tell the Mass/Upstate NY people, they say POP when we all know it's SODA! :)
I've seen those and they are very cool. Once the price comes donw, and hopefully they support DVD+-RW as well as the HDD, i'll prolly get one. :)
:) I wish I had mod points. I agree totally. I don't want all those fancy features that come w/ Tivo/replay. I just want a nice DVR (NOT PVR). :)
