I'm not sure we should start talking about Seagate!!! Latetly, I would'nt buy another drive from them. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens with their new firmware.
One thing is for sure, though. I don't want to make an 'Impress' presentation and send it to a client unless I'm sure they are going to be able to open it in Powerpoint.
Yeah or in something else they might have, like Impress;) I actually don't know Impress, btw. But I get your point.
I would normally use PDF in that case. Also, I don't like the fact that they can easily change the presentation if I send a Impress/Powerpoint file...
You're absolutly right, but it would be amazing with any CUDA-apps right now. Hell, you could probably use that to encode your H.264 movies more than 18x faster!!!
see http://www.nvidia.com/object/cuda_home.html
But I would not want to put a card with my identity in the machine that is going to register my vote!!!
Seriously, I would have trouble to trust that I am voting anonymously.
Well, the problem is to have gas! In most town around big city, the gas do not reach the residential sectors. In all the apartments I have seen, most of them do not have central heating (maybe 2 or 3 out of 10 have central heating).
Even though a heat-pump is a lot more efficient, all the older installation I know do not have them. Also, when the temperature goes below -15 or -20, a heat-pump is not any better than direct heating from an electric furnace.
All in all, most of the french-canadian just pay their 5-7c/kWh and shut the fsck up!
I also agree with my government to "ban" evoting. Even though it may seems absurd to some of you, the paper trail is very important when the results are close. We have seen it here, as dc29a just said, but we have also seen it in the US! When the vote is so close that it could change name of the winner, how can you be certain that it is really the one who has the more vote who won and not just the one who hacked the system.
I'm not against technology when it offers something more, but in this case, the risks are just too high. Whatever you think "democracy" means, I don't think I'm against it when I rather vote on a piece of paper rather than on some "not so reliable" machine.
Electromagnetism energy, at the "microwave frequency" is still energy. Even if it is not strong to pop-corn your brain in 2 minutes, it can still have some effects..
the same thing goes for HDTV.. all the new stuff wont work with the early adopters. Even if everybody kindda knew it would happen, peaple bought it anyway
Actually, yes there is some Cons... By doing so, you could have stability problems, if you're unlucky... There is a reason why Intel don't do that right out of the box. Transistors need a minimum voltage to work correctly.
I have a Nec LCD1700 with an old NVidia Tnt 2 ultra. When I use the driver from Nvidia, the last stable ones, my X server always crash. I have to stay with the default nv driver if I want my X to work... This is "old" stuff and it's still not working right... This new driver is really making me think to buy a 9700 AIW. As I know, they are still the best in multimedia all in one kit.

If they know what to ban, why don't they just arrest the guy/organisation?
I mean, child abuse is illegal in many contries, so why don't they just arrest the guilty. This way, you won't have to ban/censor a whole country!

my two cents
Explain that to the microwave!

And how can you post that news if you cannot connect???
The problem with this "gun" compared to teargas is the permanent damage cause by it. We are right in that grey line just by using it...
if you want a good example of what might be the permanent damage from such thing, just put your head in the microwave oven and tell me about it
*** Note, even if you're a professionnal, don't put any member of yours in the microwave ***
