It has been awhile since I read it, but get the book Jurassic Park and check out the last chapter. It agrees with what you said, and explains it in a wonderful way.
I also agree with the next poster, who brings up the global cooling/ice age stuff from the 1970's. As I posted in another thread here once, In Search Of (Spock's show) had an episode devoted to this theory, and a GREAT book from Reader's Digest called Strange Stories and Amazing Facts had an article about it too. They call these people watermelons, and for a VERY good reason. They are green on the outside and RED on the inside (as in commies). They are the real kooks!
During training for the first film, Hugo Weaving was discovered to have some kind of tumor in his hip (I believe) which required surgery. In addition, Keanu Reeves was coming off of neck surgery. Come on Tobey, suck it up dude!
Aren't you excited. Lots of Michael Gross. For those of us that miss Family Ties and just couldn't get enough of him as Dr. John Carter's dad on E.R. We feel blessed!
I didn't like it either (past tense). When SciFi Channel showed it in repeats "from the beginning" I watched it, and it made sense, and I found that I kind of, sort of, well, liked it. Not my favorite show (which should be obvious), but pretty damn good. I will miss it. 'SkiFee' (as I call it) has really gone downhill. They show lots of horror movies now. I think they should either change their name or bring back the REAL SciFi shows!
I said this before, in another thread... Sun had that free Solaris offer. I signed up, which required giving Sun all my personal information (name, address, phone, e-mail, etc.), and was sent a message that I would get a copy. Sun began sending me "offers" via e-mail (ie, SPAM). Then I was sent an e-mail saying I would NOT be getting a copy. I was then required to request being removed from their e-mail contact list, but they still retain (I imagine) my personal information somewhere in a database. Bad Sun, Bad! You can NOT trust a spammer. Fair weather friend indeed!
They have been around for years, and they only have 50,000 subscribers! There are 280,000,000 people in the U.S. alone. Not even many on the Left want to read them!
'Strange Stories and Amazing Facts'! I love that book and I still pull out my copy every now and again to look it over. They also have an article in there that pre-dates the global warming lies stating that another ice age is just around the corner (there was also an old Leonard Nimoy 'In Search of' episode that also stated that a new ice age was coming...) Everyone knows, or should know, that weather patterns are cyclical and not necessarily in our lifetime! You can prove it by watching your local weather forecast. They usually list the record high and low temperature for "this day". Watch those and you will understand how silly so-called GW is. Check with your local library, as they might have a copy of that book. It is still a good read!
I've also cleaned a few slot connectors, but for what the part costs (at least at MCM Electronics) you are better off getting a new slot connector. No long cleaning session and no worries about breaking pins while bending them back. $6.00 U.S., please, this is a no brainer!
I just looked at the first page of this linked article. You do NOT need a soldering iron! I've fixed LOTS of these units, and all you need is to call MCM Electronics at 1-800-543-4330 or visit them on the WWW at www.mcmelectronics.com and get:
Item #83-3785, NINTENDO TYPE 72 PIN CONNECTOR, $5.99 each
And if you need it: Item #22-1145, 3.8MM SECURITY BIT (SMALL), $1.99
Or:
Item #22-1150, 4.5MM SECURITY BIT (LARGE), $1.99
I don't work for them, but I have ordered from them (these very parts) and they are a great company.
There are LOTS of screws to be removed and replaced so keep track of where they all go. The old cartridge slot just slides off, and the new one slides on. This is a very simple task, but you need to pay close attention to what you are doing and where the screws came from and go back. I have NEVER needed a soldering iron for this repair, and I don't think anyone should.
And for the record, anyone who blows on their cartridges or into their cartridge slot is a moron. You are doing more harm than good. Get a system cleaning kit for the cartridge slot, and you can use cotton swabs and 90% Isopropyl Alcohol for the cartridge connectors. Good luck!
Ditto to both of you! I am watching less and less of Sci-Fi Channel lately. I have no idea why they have changed so drastically, other than to save money. I guess it is a double edged sword type deal: spend money to make original content and attract more viewers or spend less money renting schlok(SP?) to show and attract fewer viewers. I see they have chosen the later method of running their channel. Oh well...
I've been boycotting this jack@ss for years now. He won't release the original Star Wars on DVD (which I wanted; note the past tense), so I'm no longer giving him what he wants (my money). No SW:E1 or 2 or 3 or any other CRAP you want to make. There are PLENTY of other places to find entertainment, and in a format I prefer (DVD or otherwise). Screw you too Georgie Boy! No cash for you. NEXT!
On not being able to save the movie trailers. I also like to view the larger files. If you are viewing Quicktime trailers on Windows, what I do is use ACDSee to view the contents of my C:\WINDOWS\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\ since Windows Explorer won't show you the files in those directories. Then I click the option at the top to sort the directories files by file size or file type. You should easily be able to spot the files this way. Use the Copy or Move option to put them where you want them. This way you don't have to pay for a version that will save files.:^)
My sympathies. I'm using a Cable system here in the USA, with no limit. There are months I download very little, and then there are months where I need to (and do) leave the computer on and downloading while I'm out or sleeping. At 4GB per month, I'd be SOL.
Last year when Sun offered a free copy of, I believe, v8 on DVD for Intel/AMD systems. I gave them all my personal information, and was told to watch for my copy to arrive in the mail. Then some weeks later, they sent me an e-mail saying I would NOT be getting a copy. Then they proceeded to begin sending me SPAM (uhm, marketing). Of course I used the Remove From List option, but they proved to me what type of operation they run. I thought it would be nice to try it, but I can always download various GNU/Linux distro's for free (or buy them for cheap), so not interested. No soup for you today. NEXT!
Amazon isn't paying thoses taxes, you moron! (before you take offense, that is a paraphrase of a line from the movie "Animal House"). This is another grab on what is in your wallet by greedy states who won't be happy until your wallet it empty and you depend on them for everything! With no physical presence in your state they cannot legally collect any taxes. They will still collect them, just not legally, and they won't stop until the U.S. Supreme Court steps in.
Companies are entitled to ask for that, as far as I know there are no laws that would prohibit them from doing so. But nobody it holding a gun to your head. Reject the request and go find another job! For the record, I wouldn't comply either, for the same reason as you, but I still think they can ask. And my credit history is fantastic!:^)
Marc's (a well known Cleveland, Ohio, discount store) sells standard size bottles (16 oz.) of Peroxide at 3 for $1.00. Beat that price! Since they buy closeouts, give them a call and I'm sure you can work something out. Good luck!
Speaking of which... I just repaired a hand-me-down desk chair (from my father) that is more than 30 years old. It would have cost $50.00 or so to replace, but now it has at least a few years left. Or could I have used a USB Pen Drive instead?
Let the other countries change if they want
