Yeah, but then again here in Cleveland, Ohio, I don't have to worry about North Korea...
Police directly traffic with no cars, nice looking buildings with nothing and nobody inside, people eating tree bark and their neighbors... and with their fingers on the trigger of nukes. Not a recipe for safety, by a long stretch. But, hey, congrats on the high speed for cheap!:^)
Cox Cable HSI (Hi Speed Internet) here in the Cleveland, Ohio, area is VERY reliable and VERY fast! I have had outages, usually lasting only a few minutes. The only times it was worse than that was when commercial power (as opposed to residential power) was lost on their side of town and cable TV and internet were gone for almost two days (not their fault, and they brought in a generator to get cable TV back up before the power company could get things fixed). The other two times were also due to power loss, but lasted less than a day. In each instance, they credited my account (although I did have to call). I check my speed regularly, on what I find to be a very consistent test site (if it feels slow to me the test shows it is, and if it feels fine to me the test shows it is), and I get the advertised "up to" speeds of 3 Mbps download and 256 Kbps upload. I also use other test sites and see good results. Cox customer service is FANTASTIC! I hardly ever have to wait, and they are VERY friendly (at both the local and HSI 800). The cost is $44.95 per month, but since we also have regular cable TV it is only $34.95 per month. I imagine that at least the local service will vary from area to area. If you are in the Cleveland, Ohio, area you could do worse (like SBC)!:^) I only wish that I could run servers, but the TOS says no. Perhaps this will change with the increased competition mentioned in the article!
Well, that is a silly business model. Of course you always want to bring in new customers to keep your business growing, but if you mistreat long time customers, especially those who spend a LOT of money, then you have to bring in even more new people just to tread water. You should treat long time customers at least the same as new ones, and this system does NOT.
Great, can we all make up numbers to prove our points and feel better about ourselves. You sound like Jerry Seinfeld saying, "one of my friends is up, and the other is down, and I'm back to even". The real world does NOT work like that. Again, the people spending the most money should at LEAST be treated the same as people spending less money or no money at all, and under this system they are NOT!
People who spend the most money should at LEAST be treated the same as people spending far less money or no money at all, and under this system they are NOT.
Oh, I see, so they only mistreat people who give them a LOT of money, as opposed to, say, people who want to give them a little money or no money at all. It makes sense when you explain it like that. NOT!!!
You beat me to it! This company represents everything that is wrong with business (and I have two small businesses of my own, and no I do not run them like this). When you TRICK new people into becoming customers on the basis of your excellent quick service only to pull the rug out from under them, well, you suck.
Everyone should boycott this crap company!!! But take it a step further and TELL THEM WHY!
It certainly isn't for quality or ease of use. I've got to jump through hoops to turn it into something I watch on my DVD player, and I can't be the only person who wants to do that!
I agree. I stopped reading after he misunderstood the energy generation part (as I stated above, Morpheus clearly says humans are like batteries). Oh well... at least he likes the movie enough to waste his time writing about it, even if he does not understand it very well.
I think it does pass that test, and know several people who, like myself, watch it again and again. On the other hand, after buying Gladiator, I watched it once and thought "gee, Sparticus in a different order" (general/slave/gladiator instead of slave/gladiator/general) and never watched it again. There are NO other movies like TM. And the sequels may well be better...
He is dead wrong on this. The movie is quite clear that the process centers around humans as the source, not the manager of the energy. Morpheus says that the Matrix has turned human beings into "this" and holds up a battery.
Well, I remember seeing Neo and Trinity kissing at that point. Maybe your DVD didn't have that scene.:^) I don't know what Morpheus and Tank were doing...;^)

Back in the day, I ran a BBS and my little group of phreaks and hackers got some conference calls going with John Draper, Steve Wozniak and a few other "old-timers". One of us taped the calls, over several different days, and sent them to me. I still have them, although he made them in such a way that he can be heard quite well and everyone else is very faint. Oh well...good times! Steve Wozniak tried to get Steve Jobs to join the conference, but he wouldn't. Woz gave us all his phone numbers, including private home, so we could reach him. John Draper was great, and the guy who made the tapes stayed with him for a day once when he traveled to where John lived (for a reason that escapes me). John even sent me, through that guy, a copy of the schematics for his famous Apple II phone board. Oh well, I could go on and on. But I won't!:^)
they chose to create a character for THAT reason instead of creating one as a direct protest to the brutal treatment the dictator of Iraq subjected his people to, while spending the countries oil wealth money on things for his own pleasure (including the torture and murder of Iraqies). I was flipping channels some months ago, and saw Vin on MTV being interviewed. I decided to watch and came away with a new appreciation for the intelligence of bricks. That guy is SO f'ing stupid. I can't believe that let him go around showing it! You'd think they would want to keep that hidden. K.R. is a MUCH better actor than V.D. and smarter too, he does very few interviews!;^)
Correct. The way I've always heard the story was that the Bros. approached WB about a trilogy and were told that since they had never directed ANY movies before, they couldn't do it first. So they wrote/directed Bound and only then were they given the money for the original Matrix film. The success of that film got the other two parts of the trilogy funded. Yeah!

Or more likely, write your comment on a brown paper bag and fill it with $12,000,000 in cash and take it to your state's Democrat party. Don't have $12,000,000, no problem. You can hold a coffee at Daschle or Hillary's, or a fund raiser with monks.
