Every dollar that the US Space Program has spent was done so on EARTH... you bastard! NASA isn't perfect but it's not like they fill up the space shuttle with cash and launch it into space. All the money is spent on Earth and most of it goes into the pockets of American citizens.
People that are no longer able to reproduce still consume resources and are definitely still considered part of the population. The point is that if you curb dieoff you are contributing to population growth.
Yeah. I don't think natural selection can really even happen if you allow for non-deterministic behavior. Genes dictate behavior as much as they do the appearance or physical characteristics of a being. Evolution "relies" on organisms to be running the latest operating system.
I'm not vouching for infidelity and don't tell me this prankster was out to do any good. He was doing it to humiliate these people. Still, in the end it clearly does illustrate that you have to be careful what you send over the tubes.
I agree. The fact that the ashes were lost by a company whose eventual aim is to populate the solar system kinda makes the failure okay. I'm saying the noble intent of the rocket company offsets any sort of negative points towards the metaphor of having ones ashes launched into orbit. Just the fact that they were launched *towards* space is something that makes me happy... I think it's a good way to see Scotty go... to boldly go, even.
That's neat. Didn't know there was a word for that. I think a syllepsis requires two different meanings of a single word. "I call your excuse lame, and your mom for sex." For example...:)
I just downloaded a 1.1GB Turok demo on my PS3 the other day. It took longer to install than it did to download. I think they should make 5+ Gig movies available. You start downloading them in the morning or afternoon if you want to watch them that night. Seems fine to me.
TFA specifies an AM2+ socket. Would I lose any functionality if I swapped out my Athlon X2 for one of these babies (on my AM2 Mboard)?

I thought it was fantastic. That is THE rim of Shackleton crater. It was friggin amazing to see it in perspective next to the puny LSAM. The rest of the video was pretty hokey fo' sho', but seriously, THAT IS THE RIM! It's a the very accurate glimpse of the landscape we'll be cruising around and developing in 12+ years.
No, it wouldn't... that's what TF problem is all about. In micro gravity your capri sun juice would globulize inside the container and your straw would be sucking air and juice intermittently. On Earth gravity ensures that the heavier liquid stays in contact with your straw entrance. Also, this problem isn't as relevant to humans drinking efficiently as it is to mechanical systems that need to transfer fluid around effectively in a micro gravity environment.
Has no one yet stopped to imagine a beowulf cluster of these mini-internets?!
lol, this never gets old.
+1 to parent. I lol'd.
See how powerful my argument is?! It can justify anything!
When you eat a 5 dollar hamburger you are turning that money into SHIT!! lol. Superb job, everyone, on keeping things logical.
We're talking about spaceflight. Not taxation. Whatever... I'm just ranting too.
And??

hah. I purposefully left out any opinion on the matter. I was just trying to point out that what OP said was correct, not that it was right or good.
Seriously?

Just to clarify, this warm-air evacuation phenomenon is powered by the force of suck.

I think at least one marriage was broken up because of this ordeal. It struck me a seriously a-hole move of his, and not very funny.

This is awesome news. But why did I sign up for the newletter if they always release their stuff to spaceref or spacedaily first? Just saying...
"Jif" would be a better combo, imo. No, I didn't RTFA.
Alright, damnit. It's all "Big Bang Energy!" Now stop it. :P

Wouldn't cosmic rays get anti-aliased too? Why the hell would they corrupt their data with anti-aliasing in the first place??

You insensitive rod!
