Unfortunately I doubt this. Look at spam, it doesn't get more annoying than spam, but enough people buy their crap to make it profitable. I understand that it cost more to call instead of e-mail, but it still doesn't take too many suckers to keep the business profitable.
I really don't understand how this do-not-call list will result in lost jobs. These 50 million people who have signed up DO NOT want these calls, and as a result WILL NOT buy anything form these telemarketers.Calling people who won't buy anything is just a waste of time. With this list the telemarketers can/should concentrate on their customers who actually want (for some odd reason) their calls.
Contrary to popular opinion there is a difference between capitalism and egregious corporate greed. My company is "best-shoring" 20% of my department by year's end. They need to raise profits quickly to boost the stock price, to help pay the $54 Million severance package to the former CEO. If this was the biases of capitalism it would have failed a long time ago.
Better than creating a throw-away yahoo or hotmail address, go check out spamgourmet.com, and create a self-destructing disposable
email address that will forward a limited (set by you) number of messages to your regular
address. So far I have found that this works for everyone who needs a valid e-mail address, for
any reason. Although I haven't tried it yet on this do not call list yet....the site is running
reeeaaallllyyyy slooowwwww......
You are 100% correct that the original business model has failed; arguably it was flawed from the start. But that doesn't change why the shuttle was designed the way it was. The fact that it is cheaper to launch expendable vehicles with expendable payloads needs to be taken into account for future vehicles.
I am sorry but you are incorrect on a couple of points. The boosters (SRBs) are reused. They are collected out in the Atlantic Ocean and towed back, disassembled, inspected, and reused. Also the shuttle is not dissembled after every flight. As a matter of fact, Columbia did go through a complete overhaul, and upgrade about a year ago where it was (just about) totally dissembled, but that was the first time for the Columbia.
It's not true that this winged vehicle has nothing but disadvantages. For what the shuttle was originally designed for, carrying very large and heavy payloads into and back from space, a winged vehicle was the only solution that would alow for reentering with heavy loads. Although as it has panned out, the shuttle hasn't carried many heavy things back to earth. Back in the early days it was thought that commercial satellite launch and recovery would help subsidize shuttle launches.
Windows Update has provided me with an extremely easy way to keep my system updated, with the added feature of breaking my machine with flawed patches that cannot be removed!......Gawd I am glad I only use Windows on my company machine, who really needs to do any work at work in this slow economy!

The external tank burns up when reentering the atmosphere. It is jettisoned from the orbiter just short of orbit. There is simply nothing left to recover.
The problem is when the only time you hear from certain family members (and or certain friends) is when they need Windows help. THOSE are the people that shouldn't be helped...unless they bring beer!
spamgourmet - http://www.spamgourmet.com/ As they say on their site "self-destructing disposable email addresses, titanium strength spam blocking". I now never use my real e-mail address. And if you organize your disposable addresses right, you can tell who sells their list to the spamer scum.
And Spamcop - http://spamcop.net/anonsignup.shtml I have taken friend's yahoo accounts that were getting 20 - 25 messages a day, and after a week or two of reporting every message to spamcop the spam *almost* stops.

Well you know us open sauce zealots...We can't decide between a tomato source and a cream source!
