Since then, I've stopped working out as much but plan to start taking it again in Sept. The only concern I have is what kind of affect will it have on my kidney's. I haven't read any long term research that indicates that this is/isn't an issue.

I guess if used 'properly' and you cycle it as advised by a trainer you'll reduce you chances of any adverse affects. But who knows these days.. I think most gaming companies don't support selling goods for real money because of the legal/support hassles. From a legal perspective, if a virtual item has real life value then what happens when the game finally goes off line? I wouldn't put it past some people who have alot of money invested in the game (people who've bought items and professional traders) to sue the company for compensation. Even tho most user agreements specify that you don't 'own' these virtual items it hasn't been tested in court. We've already seen frivilous lawsuits win, so are companies willing to take the risk?

Also, from a support issue. How do you support trading real life money for virtual goods? Currently, money changes hands outside of the game first and then their respective characters meet up within the game to exchange the item(s). Its very easy for someone to get burned and i'm sure the last thing a company wants to deal with is this.

Thats why they won't officially support it and as long as they are on the record as saying its goes against their user agreement they'll have a better leg to stand on in both court and support.

Maybe some people should re-evaluate the role of tech support. Its their job to help end users.. If you don't like it, can't put up with mundane questions then find another job.

If i'm hiring a programmer I could care less if they know how to connect a printer. Its not their job, its tech supports job. Like wise I don't expect them to understand every nuance of the operating system. They have a problem, they call tech support. Tech support people are the 'experts' that are being paid to deal with these issues. I'm not paying programmers to troubleshoot printers/OS/Software, etc.

This is going to sound bad, but it isn't like most* tech support requires highly trained IT people. People who work in these call centers are usually there because they can't find anything else or aren't qualified to do anything else. Or people who went into IT because they thought it was a guaranteed job. Unforunately i'm not talking out of my ass here.

    * When I say most i'm referring to the generic internet provider style, checklist support call centers. I know there are some area's of tech support which require highly skilled individuals.

I was looking forward to getting the next version of the playstation or xbox. Until console systems have great multiplayer capability like PC's i'm going to hold off for a bit. I love consoles purely for the fact you buy a 500$ box and its good for 4 years without upgrades. Every new PC game these days has higher and higher requirements. (ex. The best PC on the market today can't run Asheron's Call 2 at its maximum, by design since they want the engine to last years..blah blah.)

The downside is, once these console boxes get hard drives, etc it will just end up like the PC market. Companies will ship games before they are completed or buggy and as soon as you put the CD in you'll have to download a patch.

Unfortuately there isn't much you can do to prevent it. There will always be a number of people in any company that will have complete access to data. The only way to prevent it is to have stringent auditing and have someone who's job is to review the logs.

A number of places i've worked for, mainly governemnt, audit everything they can but they don't have the resources to scan the logs. If there is a security breach they use the logs to backtrack. But like this situation, it the breach isn't discovered (which can be difficult depending on the skill level of the person doing it and their access level), then no one will ever know. Also, as an employee it is probably very easy to find out which protection mechanisms are in place, through documentation or just simply asking.

I'm a DBA and in each company i've ever worked in i've had complete access to all corporate data. At some point your going to have to trust someone and sometimes you just make the wrong choice.
