We are humans. Flawed machines.
Human females deserve you treat them as equals. Maybe then you'll get a date.
The preceding was the only part of the parent post that shows any resemblance of intelligent thought. There is a big difference between a non falsifiable belief system, and one that does claim to make very specific predictions. I have no problem with a belief system that can not be proven or disproven and causes people to lead better lives. I do have a problem with people that believe that human behavior is influenced or predetermined by objects, but reject any knowledge about these same objects that was scientificly determined.
And yes, I did break up with a girlfriend because of this.
I'm not taking that statement on faith. Everyone thought the entire Mozilla project was doomed to failure at the time. I remember trying to convince my employer at the time that our new project had to support netscape ( mozilla was always just supposed to become the next version of Netscape). But I lost that argument because it sucked, didn't support much css or work correctly with most websites in existence. Take a look at Joel's assessment of mozilla in 2003 when he first switched to firefox.
You stole my post. I think someone should stop putting music in video games to prevent crappy artists from hitting it big. New video game rule: no music created within the last 20 years can appear in any video games.
Its widely acknowledged that Intel created EMF burst proof chips for the government. The technology inside of them was never publicly discussed. I think it might be similar to cosmic ray correction. They might just be patenting a sub set of it now before the shrinking die sizes cause someone else to patent technology they've been using for years.
You really think most people think credit should be determined based upon who's someone's parents were? Or there social standing? I don't know how to figure either of those out in this day and age.
You must have translated that in your head to the prestige of the university someone went to or number of papers written. That I can see many people actually using today, to my dismay. If being a professor was about more than numbers of papers written in a given time period, I would have considered it as a career option.
Ahh what happened to the good old days, where conflicts like this over credit were resolved based upon the nobility and social standing of the mathematicians? Why, Newton once stated his greatest accomplishment was crushing Leibniz.
I understand your sentiments about PHP, VB, and VBA. However, I think thats just an indication of the ease of developing in a given language. The easier, and more idiot proof you make your language, the more idiots you have writing it. The longer a person can code in a language without realizing the holes they're shooting in their feet, the worse code you get.
I think the opposite question would be a good ask slashdot:
What is the most widely deployed language that you are least likely to find horrible code written in?
Exactly. However, its a little nebulous when to apply the rule with regards to software. Some companies are more anal about it than others. So Apple can use that rule to increase its profits while hiding behind an interpretation of the rule that not everyone would agree with -- "to be on the safe side".
I absolutely agree. The good news is Mysql is going to open up its development process a little more to streamline the integration of changes / features from outside the company into official releases.
FYI. Your observations of mysql performance are right in line with what others including google have noticed. The famous google patches significantly improve the scalability regressions introduced. They should eventually make there way into the official Mysql in a couple months or so.
I'm not trying to troll. I'll admit my Spanish history is not as nuanced as it would be if I were myself Spanish. That is the overview thats provided in most brief historical accounts. Communism versus Fascism. There were atrocities on both sides. I'm not trying to excuse either side. From the Churches' point of view, one side was for it and the other attacked it. In light of that, its not surprising that there was a bit of a bias for one side versus the other.
The Spanish civil war was between fascist dictatorship and communists. The united states and all of Europe were backing the Fascists as the lesser evil. The Communists were slaughtering nuns and priests as it encountered them. Its tough to be neutral when the other side is engaging in genocide against you, but to be fair the Vatican itself never officially took sides.
I never had an interest in D&D I played it a few times, but found the rules too limiting. It was too much of an excuse to avoid the real world. Its sort of like the ruby on rails for creativity. It helps most people who don't know much to quickly create something that works very well, but ultimately there the very things that make it easy end up being prison bars.
Note this is not a troll or flame bait. Its just my needs exceed what each one can provide.
garbage is a non scientific term. When you call these ideas "garbage" you are just provoking those who believe they are true. No one would like having what they believe to be true called garbage. Its best to stick to logic when debating logic. You have to figure out why these ideas are in your opinion garbage and present that in a logical fashion such as "these ideas can not be proven wrong" and " these ideas will not help us predict anything in the future". Maybe you don't like using those two, thats ok find other reasons why its nonsense instead of science that doesn't incite the passions of those that currently disagree with you.
I think the time for floppies has passed. They are no longer customarily used to distribute software. But they could buy a hard drive and put the code on it and charge you for it.
I don't know what banks you are talking about I use three of the largest in the united states, they all support firefox 100%. If you are using Joe Shmoeville bank's website, you aren't thinking very clearly. Is Joe Shomeville going to understand how to build a secure website? I wouldn't trust a bank that can't create a website in 2008 that works with firefox or safari.
By standards compliant they pretty much just mean HTML CSS javascript and the DOM. There are many web technologies, but there isn't a single browser that fully supports all of the standards you listed. I wish there was. Feel free to correct me If I'm wrong.
Thank you. Its like no one here saw the South park episode about Family Guy. I think some people laugh because their brains don't understand (Fans of Seth Shows), others laugh because they do understand (cartoon network shows).
He says they'll be more transparent when they are embracing a standard, and the deviations (extentions) they use to compete (extinguish) with linux. Different words, but the basic meaning is the same.
So basically they couldn't figure out a better way to do what they do in webkit without relying on a bunch of hacks based upon internal api's and structures. I understand that in the technical sense, and I've been in the same situation before myself.
However when you translate that to the realm of ethics, it sounds absurd. Imagine an trader accused of inside trading using a similar defense
"Well, yes I did make large trades on inside information that was not released to the public, because it was still subject to change and took a lot of work to understand it in the proper context. We do find private information from time to time and decide that other investors should know this information and release it as a quarterly earnings report.
No bigger, much bigger. something that no one has every heard of. Something that sounds like nothing ever heard of, but has a distinctive ring. As if all our lives we were waiting in anticipation for this new term to bring unity to the concept.

Sure, its not your wife. What happens if she stabilizes on the wrong mood?

I'm guessing you've never been in a Chicago school. Its not that they are against cameras in schools.
They're just against things that can be broken.

It was a joke. Laugh.

Exactly. Arithmatic is to limiting. Thats what D & D is. I, myself, prefer calvin ball. Best game ever.
