  1. Obscure reference? on Google's Secretive Data Center · · Score: 1

Google turns the system on and a message comes up:

    /start all CAPS
    There is another system
I want Forbin on this line or action will be taken
    /end all CAPS

Slashdot didn't let me post the two sentences in all CAPs. Necessary for the reference to work, I think

    ;)

Has anyone tried to write a software to actually read EULAs and give the user some sort of brief summary of its contents?
    I'm just curious.

Frink: Well, sure, the Frinkiac-7 looks impressive, don't touch it, but I predict that within 100 years, computers will be twice as powerful, 10,000 times larger, and so expensive that only the five richest kings of Europe will own them.

This post really deserves the "Insightful" tag, from my point of view. Not so much for the comments on the story itself but because of the remarks regarding the "must-have" society in which we live in. Well put! --------- A little story I have on this :) I got two e-mails for this scam and I decided to "play" with them a little. Nothing sophisticated but I was a little borred, to I tried it anyway: I replied to the 1st guy but temporarily changed by e-mail settings to that the "reply-to" field was pointing to the 2nd guy. I did the same for the first guy ;) I didn't get any more messages from them, which may mean that either they got my little trick -or- if they quickly simply pressed the reply buttom, one replied to the other :))) Ismenio

Sad thing is, someone already had some item listed as of this morning!!! :( But eBay quickly jumped in and put it on hold. Sorry if you misunderstood my point. I don't know where you got the idea that I am a pirate, if I were, I wouldn't be using their service in the first place! (I would be downloading bootleg versions of them!) I have bought all the movies I own legally. Also, I said I liked the service, and I do! I want to give it a try but not with the problems I had and I told them that hoping they will improve their service. I don't get your comments on VPN, I mentioned that because that's what I use to log on to the network of my company and my point was that I use that along with my firewall without problems, so I should not have to turn if off just to use the services of MovieLink. I probably didn't make that clear, sorry for that. The other comment I didn't understand was that you said I have both a computer and a broadband connection. Well, I don't see how you could use their service without them! Again, I am all for the idea and I want to be able to rent (meaning pay$) for them, but it has to work! Hope this clarifies the issue and thanks for your comments. Ismenio
