While I don't disagree, the unfortunate principals of being public means that you have to cater to the lowest common denominator. My wife worked as a TA for a local public middle school. She tried to make meaningful contributions, but quit when it became apparent that catering to the minority meant that a special needs child, bedridden due to a genetic disorder of some sort, was to be accommodated in the regular classroom scenario so they could feel "normal". This also meant my wife, who is not a nurse, would be required to change his diaper throughout the day. The parents were affluent lawyers and my guess is the district caved rather than face a lawsuit. The public system is broken in so many ways and the number one issue is threats of lawsuits. Private education can set their own rules generally, so you know going in what you get and the contract you sign indicates you agree to their policies. Did I pay twice so my kids could be educated? Yes. But at least I knew how they were being educated and agreed to the school's policies.
Boy that's a lot of assumptions. I did not go into debt to pay for it. I actually lived within my means. And the attitude and demeanor of your posting is a better indicator of who is a "prick".
The headline is misleading and inflammatory. I'm not rich (middle class) and I sent my kids to private school for a better education than the crap public education system. People can make choices and sacrifice (ie, I didn't pay for garbage cable TV and other such nonsense) to send their kids to private school.
Don't need one. No extra nitrates in soil by mankind. More precipitation by climate change = no toxic bloom. Conclusion = More precipitation by climate change does not equal toxic blooms.
Unfortunately, those pushing gloom and doom by all things climate change and linking everything under the sun to it are using broken logic and harming their actual agenda.
Nope. Increased nitrate (which comes from soil - not precipitation) comes from humans overgrowing and fertilizing. Stop overgrowing and fertilizing and the increased nitrate goes away. It could rain all it wants if we didn't put the "extras" in the soil and we'd be fine. This is NOT a result of climate change. It is a result of human interaction with the soil.
huh? Climate change = Increased rainfall = washed out nitrogen from human activities? Hum. Seems to me the increased human activities = the increased nitrogen, not the increased precipitation from climate change.
Sometimes I wonder if there is logic in science or humans at all. Maybe we need some Vulcans on this planet to guide our science?
You cannot establish a medium (the Internet) based on free and open access and expect to convert it into a paid medium. The simple truth is that there a re million sources for news. Whether or not they are reputable doesn't matter to the mass consumer (or so it appears). If you begin to charge for content, you will only receive the small sampling of people who care about the reputation of your site. So - STOP WHINING. Geeze. This is the market people. Stop trying to fit your old broken models on the folks who were born in an era where free and open content meant they did not have to pay. Sometime I think marketing analysts should be under the age of 30. (I'm 50 and recognize this - what morons...)
because there isn't much to run into in the air and flights are required to file a flight plan so they have clear airspace. Even then, you always have a pilot on the ready. And this has been around for decades.
Letting a computer be in full control of your life on the ground at high speeds is foolish.
The articles referenced post nothing about the socio-economic factors of these girls, which many believe has a lot to do with unintentional pregnancies, with our without any education. Additionally, I see nothing discussed about interviews with the teen-mothers to indicate if they were already thinking of becoming mothers prior to the sex-ed/robot baby teachings. Seems a lot of data is missing if you ask me.
I've been guilty on occasion, but truth is we are more and more becoming citizens of the Wall-E concept. Someday you'll simply sip a slurpy from your robotic recliner.
Perhaps some genetics play into it, be he started walking 10+ miles a day at 60. At 49, I run a 5k in 22 minutes. I've been running for 8 years - I didn't start out at that. Do I have aches and pains? Yes. But far fewer than when I first started. Your body will inevitably break down, but lack of attention to it will accelerate that process.
I'm 49. My grandfather performed in the Senior Olympics at 82 and ran a 5K in 32 minutes. Still a record in Missouri. He lived to be 100. His body outlasted his mind. Life is what you make of it. If you sit around on you keester watching TV into your 80's, whining about your bladder or other items, you get what you deserve. Mark it Flamebait if you want. Truth is truth.
Hey, in California, the government authorities are always looking for a reason to raise taxes. Making up the difference in legal fees might just be another way of skimming additional revenue.
I am not proposing anything. Simply saying that there are laws of nature that people really cannot avoid and my belief is this is one of those. You either are moving up the ladder because you refuse to just exist - or you stay stagnant. Man can always better himself - it's a choice.

I'll go one further. "Rich kids" because they have an Apple Watch? Really? Now the definition between "rich" and "poor" is based on a $349 device?

touche. Although I'd rather chance having other humans on the road than a system designed by those same flawed humans.

Maybe you lucked out from the Ashley Madison fiasco, but if your name is on this list, exposure may cost you more than you know.
Robert Heinlein would be proud.
