A fellow I know has wrecked countless cars because he was staring at girls walking along the road. Perhaps we should also pass a law to prevent girls from being outside? Stupid people are going to do stupid things. You can either ban stupid people, or ban all things. Or just accept the fact that this stuff is going to happen.
This makes me wonder if the converse would also be true. Could the music industry through the lyrics of modern music be held accountable for encouraging violent crime? I see no obvious efforts my music publishers to control criminal activity although lyrics continue to become more and more violent over time.
Well, Paul Thurrott is kind of an idiot. Anyone who can be a chearleader for M$ after having used an Amiga has got to have at least a few fasteners torqued well below specification. The iPad is not a netbook first of all and shouldn't be compared to one. He's just whining because this is a formfactor that M$ has been working on for years with nothing to show for it. Once again Apple shows that they know how to design a cool new device.
Since the entire concept of patents is to support innovation, why not give patent a specific and limited amount of time to actually incorporate their ideas and if that isn't met the patent is invalidated? This I think would at least limit patent trolling.
This is EXCELLENT news! As soon as Comcast and the rest of the cheesey internet providers completely destroy the net as we all know and love it GOOGLE can step in with their own alternative internet, net neutral and faster than, well, really really fast! All Hail Google!
And as I've said before, if you are still paying for music you are financing this travesty! Attempting to alter peoples behavior by means of destructive acts (I don't care if killing through bombs or through financially destroying them) is terrorism and if you are paying for music you are financing terrorism.
The actions of the RIAA are nothing short of terrorism focused on those people that enjoy music and financed by those people that pay for music. Just like Al-Qaeda being financed by the buyers of opium and other related drugs. As long as some people are still paying for music these attacks will continue. We need to wipe out RIAA's financing!
The longer they make the terms for copyright protections the less relevant they become. Why don't they just make them last until the end of time and be done with it, and make the protections retroactive until the beginning of time while they're at it.
I don't see it. The tool would be the internet, the computer, the torrent client. I would think a better comparison to Pirate Bay and piracy would be the phone book and serial killers. Both are nothing but lists of possible victims with their addresses.
I think we have just witnessed concrete proof that Dogs Are Smarter Than Oxford Scientists.

Others might say that our founding fathers never intended for copyrights to be a vehicle for supressing the freedom of speech. But WTF did they know?
Perhaps it's time to make people get a "walkers license" before they are allowed to walk outdoors?
Where are these, so I can "like" them?

You don't suppose this is all part of a plot to provide Google with the perfect opportunity to enter the ISP market and take it over?

At least terrorists, pornographers and mass-murderers are still protected.
Wow, as if there wasn't enough reasons already to drop cable tv in favor of a Boxee Box!

Does anyone still use IE, with Chrome and Firefox available who needs IE?
Because if there is anything they understand in Redmond, it's getting things done by flexing a little muscle.
if anything but governments were involved in it? Why does all of this ACTA stuff sound so much like "conspiracy"?
Maybe they can find a way for MP3's to degrade with every play so they can again compete against the turntable?
And the broadband companies take legal action to prevent private citizens and communities from creating their own broadband systems why?
Are they talking all men or just some men? I would be fairly shocked if they weren't already smarter than at least some people.
What a cool idea! Maybe before that they can tax sneaker companies to support their wooden shoe industry though!

That is one compelling reason to not upgrade to Blu-Ray, if you ask me.
I still use AvantGo on my iPaq. That's how I get the news to read at work. :(
