Thanks, guys! It sounds like the answer to my question is to go into contracting, as opposed to salaried employment, which is where I find myself. I'm not complaining; I'm in a good position right now where I've been picking up a lot of skills.
If you don't mind me asking, how do you get months of time off per year? I've been working a position where I actually have to produce something and get about four weeks off (which supposedly is more than most get), but I would like to know how a person would go about getting more.
No doubt, any attempt at a country-wide firewall would be an utter failure and cost tens of billions of taxpayer dollars. But that won't stop them from trying...
And line the pockets of the cronies of whoever is in power
You may like to know that the US Presidential administration traditionally consists of "departments" with each department having it's head "Secretary". Eg. The Department of Defense is Headed by the Secretary of the Department of Defense.
It is widely believed that recent US Presidents have been appointing "Tsars" in order to avoid the Constitutional requirement that the US Senate "confirm" the President's selection of the Department "Secretaries".
"Tsar" is not just a catchy name; it is politically expedient.
For what it's worth, the Japanese shorten all off these names. Since the pronounciation is mangled almost beyond recognition when you pound it into Japanese orthography, there isn't really any reason not to shorten them some arbitrary way.
Crazy! I have co-workers who *insist* on dimming the lights and closing window-blinds. I imagine that they go home and turn the lights up high when they sleep.
Funny you should mention that!
I was taught evolution in a Presbyterian school. Of course, I was taught that it was a fallacious theory, but the teachers said that we needed to understand it nevertheless. On one field trip to a museum where we were given a lecture about creation and the dinosaurs, the teacher fell asleep!

I was listening to that show when that story was told. The host was Rush Limbaugh.
Limbaugh's argument was not that the man who lost his job deserved to lose everything. Limbaugh's argument was that what the man needs is not unemployment payments; he needs a job. Of course, Limbaugh blames the job situation on Obama. The caller says that his job was cut in anticipating of higher health care costs resulting from the new health care law.
Last month, I had a sickness for a few days that was so bad at times that I felt like I would throw up from just the effort to stand up. I should go to work with that!

Don't forget TLOZ: A Link to the Past. Get a good SNES emulator for free, such as ZSNES and then search for SNES roms and you'll find it!

And what makes you think that if the Shinkansen came to the USA, the TSA wouldn't be happy to grope your children before they board the Shink?
Now a smart shopper from a rich country can go anywhere on the planet they want.
There, fixed that for ya. You haven't seen how some "smart shoppers" have to go about making decisions, have you?
No, there is no limit. The future is a boot stamping upon a face!

Come on, get with the times! With T-SQL, you don't have to select and then delete, you can just delete and forget the where clause!

I just bought a 46" LCD TV a few days ago. I made *sure* it wasn't a SONY branded TV because of their involvement in suing downloaders.

I was just reading a column this morning: http://planetthrive.com/2010/04/the-sick-care-economy/. The author is a bit off the wall on some topics, but he has a unique take on the health care legislation.
I'm told that in the military, the 30 days that you get includes weekends... so it's actually like 20-21 business days off.
